The drama was originally supposed to be 30 episodes long, so they definitely dropped the ball on some storylines in an effort to wrap it up more quickly. I personally feel the drama would have been so much better had they kept the 30 episodes as originally intended.

Completely agree with you! All of the plots were planted so well and subtly too! 🌱

Thank you for the review! I LOVE My Dearest! I especially love all the details behind all the characters. I usually don't like memory loss trope either BUT I thought both times were well used here. Like you said, with just the times that we saw Jang Hyun being hit (HARD) on the head, it was either memory loss or coma or death! The latter 2 options would not worked for the drama to continue. Would love your analysis of the ending too which some think it is actually an open one.

Thanks for watching! I think so too and even with 량음 Ryangeum, was he real or was this 길채 Gilchae seeing visions of him. It did not occur to me that they reunited after (?) years until it finally hit that we’re in the reign of 효정 Hyojong or 현종 hyeonjong.

Really enjoyed your reviews of My Dearest and all the historical context. Wish I had breakdowns after watching each of the episodes. Am planning on rewatching the entire series (I loved it that much!) so I would definitely watch more breakdowns on the earlier episodes if you make them! Thanks for all your hard work! Really well done!

Just a quick comment. I've read that the originator of the drama said it was based on the American classic "Gone With the Wind". Hmmm, I do not think so. It certainly was inspired by that film/novel, per the comment, but it left the rails after the 3rd episode or so. The characters do correspond well with Scarlett, Rhett, etc., but the plot itself follows it's own path. This makes it a better show than it would have been following the line of GWtW fully. IMHO, FWIW. Re Confucianism, I've read that Bushido explains everything wrong with Japan. I don't know Bushido enough to comment, but I've read enough about Confucianism to say that the idea that it explains much that is wrong with Korea today is not without merit. In the ideal, I can't say too much that's negative, but as practiced, both then and now, it is not a good thing. The authorities, meaning the King, Queen, yang ban, today's politicians, CEO's, etc. do not act like "loving parents" to their obedient children. It's more a master/slave relationship. Get out of line, suffer. And the "children" seem very much resigned to this, fatalistically. Not good. BTW, this is Not a knock on Korea exclusively. As an American, I'm appalled at the amount of pure and total corruption in US society, Western society actually, that the ordinary citizen is willing to put up with. Sorry, this went on much longer than I meant it to. I really enjoyed your review. It got a thumb from me...

I would love to understand the transformation of the clothes styling of Gil Chae and if it has a meaning??? Isn’t she pregnant???
@iamkozzie7 ай бұрын
Ohhh yes! maybe you might have to watch a little before to find out more about her pregnancy but i do love how her clothes went from bright and vibrant in season 1 to more darker colours, perhaps due to the tone of the drama season 2 or perhaps the series of events she endured in Shenyang and once she returned to Joseon

@@iamkozzie i’m intrigued about the length in the last 2 episodes
