Thank you so much! I'm glad to have you here! If you get around to tackling Empty Mansions, let me know - no one I know has read it and I need someone to talk through details with!

Empty Mansions is such a fascinating read-Huguette Clark’s life is almost stranger than fiction. And always great to meet another Kate Atkinson fan-she’s consistently fantastic. Glad you found the channel, and Happy New Year!

I hope you have a powerful vacuum to deal with those pine needles. And Lucy Foley is always at least okay. And sometimes that is all you need. I got an unexpected Christmas gift when a friend gave me a signed copy of Island of Whispers from my favorite middle grade writer, Frances Hardinge.

It'll give the Dyson a workout! Sometimes all you're looking for is okay, and that is where I was at. Also: please tell me how Island of Whispers is? I read a write up of it in the NYT early in December and have it on my list of books to be on the look out for! Hope 2025 is off to a good start!

@@DrCrankyPantsReads Island of Whispers was a wonderful read. One of the cover quotes describes it as elegiac. And it is. It's one of those books that you would read as a kid and then randomly read decades later as an adult and get punched in the gut with the thematic stuff.
