Alex, I don't know why you guys just didn't pull the engine out? It would have made your life a lot easier to work on that engine. The engine is small enough and not that complicated to disconnect. Yeah, it may have seem like more work in the beginning, BUT you guys would have had a lot easier time fixing everything with the engine out. IMO

@@aaronbritt2025 ""We have to have this build done in 3 days, or we'll lose the entire business" shows" I have not met a man who likes drama interjected into their car/house/woodworking/motorcycle channel. I think there's a script committee with a network approved formula from episode TV. They believe they'll attract "other viewers" - AKA not just men - if there's drama and cat fights between the "cast". This ridiculous artificial drama and shop people told to pretend they're actors ruins the show. Best example of how to do it right is "This Old House". The most drama you'd get is a polite disagreement on the merits of Robertson vs Philips screws.

I LOVE to drive ANY of my vintage VW Beetles. They are slow as molasses, but the looks you get and the smiles they make are worth the trade. AND, like the DeLorean, they will run well if you maintain them. Simplicity and reliability go hand in hand. They are not fast, but regular maintenance keeps them running for a long time.

A 1958 MGA, in 1964 I was a junior in high school and I bought the MGA and pulled it in the garage. This is in Minnesota so the snow was feed high. My father and friends disassembled the car and brought it down the basement, where we restored it over the following year and a half. In March 1966 the car was complete and we hauled it up to the garage and reassembled it. I only had a gallon of gasoline so my father said he would follow me to the gas station, we pulled out of the driveway and went down to main street where I sat with my left turn signal on for 2 to 3 minutes waiting for traffic to clear my father honked and I pulled out with him behind me. I got approximately 3/4 of a block from my street And the local police pulled me over and gave me a speeding ticket for 45 in a 30 failure to stop, and not using my turn signal. My father just about blew . It was impossible for a 58 MGA to go from 0 to 45 miles an hour in 1200 feet. My father and I took the cop to court where the judge laughed and said the cop was crazy. After finishing the traffic stop we went down about 3/4 of a mile and I filled up with gas and drove that thing for my entire senior year of high school. Everybody loved it.

A little tip for removing those broken studs, don't heat the stud but heat the area around it or let the stud cool and transfer the heat into the area around it so it's not expanding into the threads around it.
@commonsenseisdeadin2024
@commonsenseisdeadin2024 Ай бұрын
Where did you get that tip? That isn't going to do anything for you, the issue isn't because it's "too tight". Heating the stud will harden the brittle steel and the other issue is galling......(This is why sometimes it removes the threads!) Or if they are iron heads we call it rust! That said...... If you have aluminum heads, DO NOT install stainless bolts dry! If you think steel bolts are a pain..... Well as the saying goes; "fuk around and find out"!
@jeremymann8930
@jeremymann8930 Ай бұрын
@commonsenseisdeadin2024 worked on my all aluminum 6.2 very well, after I tried the way they showed here and had the same results. If you heat the part that the bolt or stud threads into, then you create clearance between the threads and anything that's stuck on them, which frees up the bolt/stud.
@bret7306
@bret7306 Ай бұрын
The heat in the head breaks the bond to the stud's threads. It weakens the molecular changes that occurred over the years, allowing the stud to break FREE of the thread lock, not break the stud.

Sometimes a car doesn't need to be a high performer to just be a car that just brings you smiles every time you smile. While in college I had an 87 Sirocco and an 89 RX-7. Not really fast 1/4 mile cars, but with Koni struts and performance tires they would stick to the road like glue. Since DeLoreans on the road are so rare and quirky, it has to be a blast to just get in and drive... even without a Flux capacitor.

I gotta say, this car has grown on me, and finished product looks great, they are really attractive and I dig the interior. Your enthusiasm over it is infectious. Doesn't have to be a supermarket, if it presses your buttons the right way, thats all that counts.

You're video's are so fun to watch. This video just proves to people that if you have heart, dedication and of course a little bit of money you can have a ton of fun being a DIY fix it guy! The Delorean itself was a legend and you just made it 1000 percent better by bringing one back to life! Keep the great videos coming. That Mike Myers bit cracked me up! LOL

I have a 1992 K11 Nissan March that I absolutely LOVE to drive. It's a CVT automatic but it was my starter car on Gran Turismo. It's been parked for many years but I am bringing it home to Missouri to start the refresh early May. Congrats on getting the DeLorean back on the road, it's a beautiful example.

Mr. O'Neil would be a great interview for a video documentary about DeLorean. I actually wonder if that wrench is a Historical, Automotive Easter Egg for Y'all for being the 1st people to discover it by pulling that carpet. At auction there's no telling how high the price could go.

A little tip when welding bolts to broken studs: use a wrench instead than a ratchet and rock it back and forth gently at first and with progressively more force until they start to turn. It takes experience on how much force you can get away with before it breaks.

To this day, my favorite car I’ve ever owned was my first car. A 1988 Audi 90, non-Quattro, but still had the 2.3 inline 5, 5-speed. It had 130 hp (factory) but it was SOOO much fun to drive and sounded amazing. I miss that car dearly. Another amazing vid, Alex!

Finally the delorean video release. Many thumbs up for your effort. Sugestion for Other video : 1. Put a turbocharge if it is not installed yet. 2. Or try to reduce delorean unit weight, by change the bottom cabin shell (not the chassis or stainless steel body) with new era composite material such as carbon fiber. I'm very awaiting your next delorean serries.

I think my favorite low-hp car was an 86 Lebaron Turbo. A little bit of zip, but light-years of power ahead of the no-guts Dodge 600 (same 2.2l 4, no turbo). This car was my baby; I lucked out in getting the Mark Cross interior package (leather seats, dash/option upgrades). She served me well through 2 engine rebuilds/replacements.
