interesting and I actually love the rugged shape and texture of the completed sketch book. It shows you've used it for the intended purpose without hesitation which is something we can all learn.

Thank you for the great review Martin. On your recommendation I ended up ordering the no brand sketchbooks and love them only they are more expensive here in Canada. But they are worth it. Beautiful paper, nice size, lots of pages to fill. And they take all sorts of different inks without bleeding through.

I just happened to stumble onto your channel Martin. After watching a number of your videos I find your work very inspiring and in fact more than inspiring. It’s quite excellent actually. I just ordered a couple two packs of the A5 sketchbooks from Amazon. I do lots of traveling for work and hate the thought of taking my better quality watercolor sketchbooks with me when I just end up doing quick sketches. These sketchbooks look perfect for my needs. I just need to get a nice brush pen to use with my TWSBI 580 fountain pen.

Thank you for your interesting feedback! That’s absolutely the point about these cheaper sketchbooks. For shading I use the pentel pocket brush pen.

Your wonderful sketches remind me of Italo Calvino's book "Invisible Cities" where Marco Polo tells the Khan about the cities he found along the way. I couls easily imagine your paintings to illustrate the cities Calvino describes. If you havent read it, I can highly recommend it. I am sure you will be inspired to make those imaginary cities come to life. Thanks for this sketchbook tour, I found your tips spot on.

The takeaway is the opportunity to see more of your work. One thing I learned is that there are no books with grey or tan colors

Great video. Excellent artwork. A cornucopia of wonderful sketchbooks. Happy new year/ happy 2024 everyone. Edit - *why* did you *cut And remove* several pages containing *your artwork* ? Would have *been interesting to have seen those missing pages* .

Hi Martin, thank you for all those informative videos. I am a new subscriber and I love your art and content! I have one question if I may. Do you ever use Bristol paper for ink drawing? That's what I use most of the time, since it's much easier especially with markers. I am not sure if they would respond well to water, though, I only used them for drawings. Thank you for your time!
@MartinLachmairArt4 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for your kind feedback about my work! Yes for ink drawings this Bristol paper is perfect. But if you want to use a paper with a smooth surface, that is also usable for watercolour I would suggest the “hot pressed” watercolour paper (best would be: 300 gr., 100% Cotton, acid free). Brands are Hahnemühle, Arches, Fabriano and so on. So keep it up! Best regards from Austria, Martin.

Thank you for this review. What brand is the A4 art book? I’m surprised you liked the Arteza book. I thought it was cheap and poor quality but now I might try it.

Do you cut out pages that you don;t like very often, is it based on your expectation of your skill, and these are not good enough. Or something else. A rare occurrence or no big deal?
