There are few movies I could watch again and again and not get bored. This is one of them. I still find new bits I never noticed before every time I watch. A true masterpiece

Great movie, and a great theme to explore. One thing you missed is that the movie doesn't locate the answer within either one of the two protagonists, but somewhere greater than them both. The movie makes a point of showing all the characters trapped in their own particular class circumstance e.g. the waiter is played by French director Jean Lenauer. The only way to find solutions is to work with others, to talk through problems, and seek out what we have in common.

This movie is free on youtube and it's worth a watch to anyone fed up with mindless mainstream drivel. Thanks for the review

I watched it twice. Plan to watch it again because there’s so much packed in it. I see so many things going on it the movie, but I see it as the conscious and unconscious trying to connect and assimilate…an inner dialogue. I like how they name drop a lot of names from art, literature, and history. I’m sure they were aware of Carl Jung’s work.

Really nice work. I love films that explore this theme of interconnectivity. That feels like an important concept to mediate on within our times. Double Life of Veronique is probably my favorite exploration of this idea

The Double Life Of Veronique is such a great choice!

Great video. Definitely need to rewatch. Though different, The Before Trilogy has a similar vibe of the two main characters talking about life.

Thank you! Also I completely agree, the Before Trilogy does feel similar, I must give those films a rewatch!

Great video! Really helped me process my feelings toward the movie. Personally felt like I'm not experienced enough to fully understand everything that's being talked about and admittedly I'm not always the most patient person. But for me at least it says a lot about how conversation and talking through our feelings, especially in challenging ways, can change us and make us more appreciative of our surroundings.

A fantastic journey into self discovery. In my modest opinion, one of the greatest script ever written.

Thank you for such a good analysis! The movie has had an impact on me in many ways and yet I wasn't aware of the extent this theme of "connections" is present throughout the whole movie.

You really have nothing but the good good film’s covered on this channel - I haven’t watched deep enough to know the analysis quality, but I looove the selection so far, will watch tf out of this channel asap.

Hopefully the analysis quality is OK! I have an MA in screenwriting so I hope I have a good eye for picking up thematic details, but please let me know what you pick up on when you see this film! It's so densely layered that it feels like picking up on new details on each viewing 😁

@@YouHaveBeenWatchingFilms it’s been a while since I’ve checked back to this channel - I follow so many and I often forget about some rly good one’s - clearly you’re all about some excellent film’s - I only have to put aside the time to watch several, so far I think I’ve only saved them to my playlists to ensure that I do - because when I do I’ll likely be wanting to see prob 15 or more these back to back.. I will absolutely give my opinion however once I’ve gotten to it either tonight or tmr night, and I already expect to love this channel- I am not even familiar with the channel yet and know I could veritably talk for hours with you about so many of the film’s you’ve covered to begin with.

Only just saw this comment now, that's genuinely cool you've seen most of the films I've covered! Sorry for misunderstanding, it's good you've seen My Dinner With Andre a few times too. I'm hoping that if you find the time, you'll enjoy the videos I've made discussing the ones you've seen. 😁 Polite little note that I'm a trans woman so personally I don't go by "man" lol, but I can appreciate it isn't always easy just going off from my voice. 😅

I wonder what Andre would have said about today's social media dominated world? Lots to unpack there.

Although i enjoy the subject matter in this movie, it really just bores the heck out of me, haha, I failed to make it through this one. For this one i just preferred to watch your video instead of the actual movie. Thanks for all the videos ❤❤❤

Totally understandable, it can be a tough watch! I'm glad you've enjoyed my videos though, thank you for watching! 😊💖

I find the first 10 minutes and the last 30 minutes the most interesting. In between, it's just Andre going on and on about his experiences which may, or may not, be based in truth.
