No such thing as Italian or Turkish dna, meaning: both these countries were created by various ethnic-gentic groups. For example, Italy was formed as federation in 1865 of Lomabards and Venitians-Gemanic, Tuscany-Estruscans, most of the boot is Greek dna and Scicily a combination of Greek dominating with Maltese, Arabic etc. Oddly enough there not much of a large percentage of "Roman". As for the Turks-Anatolia : one third to one half is Greek, then about a third is Armenian and another third is Kurdish- only 8% is there Far Eastern Turkish dna. All these groups are indigenous people living in those areas for thousands of years and were subjected or coerced into changing religion, language and adopting a foreign heritage.
@Gii70773 жыл бұрын
If this is the casw, your family is most likely pontic greek and adopted a turkified last name in a bid to escape the pontic greek genocide by the turks. Very common. But i could be wrong!

The Anatolian is either modern Turkish or Anatolian Hunter Gatherer which is common in the Neolithic Farmers (Early European Farmers) lineages that are very high in Southern Europe and that Europeans share in common with Arabs and other Middle Eastern groups. The Tatar is more in line with the small percentage of East Asian.
@jacksonjopling86443 жыл бұрын
I think that that small amount of central/south asian and east Asian are actually part of your Turkic ancestry. The Turkic people were nomads on the Eurasian steppes. They moved around a lot a mixed with the people they came into contact with.

Really excited but also anxious to find out about my results! Our heritage in Iraq is really mixed since we've been colonised quite some few times lmao, and it's also a very multi-ethnical country. Practically no Iraqi Arab is circa 100% something. I know for sure that I'm mostly Arab and I'm suspecting some Yemenite from my dad's side, but I'm also expecting some huge amount of both Persian and/or Kurdish blood considering where my city is located, and possibly some Mandean and/or Assyrian in there as well. It's all really complicated and the answers I get about my heritage are all over the place, not even my own parents know for sure so I really just wanna get a clear picture once in for all and put an end to all the confusion!

You are misunderstanding how the ancestry timeline works. It doesn't involve the family traveling. The dates show how far back the last ancestor of that ethnicity exists in your DNA. For example, the Anatolian DNA belongs to an ancestor or ancestors that lived around 1790 to 1880, likely 3x grandparent(s) to 7x grandparent(s)
@yd33343 жыл бұрын
Such a fun and interesting video! I hope you also make an update on your results a few years later maybe or if anything changes majorly. I want to also ask if your mom is where your ukranian heritage comes from because I've read and know that a lot of bulgarians immigrated to Ukraine during the 18th and 19th century bc of the Ottoman Empire and i believe your grandmother may have been one of them maybe :)

Avars, Bulgars, Khazars (and some scholars even claim the Huns too)...were Turkic nomadic people from the Mongolian Steppe. And they mixed heavily with indigenous Uralic people during their migration. The Old Bulgar language survived in the Volga region; it's called Chuvash. The Slavic/Rus people labeled everybody east of them as "Tatars/Tartars." As the Slav/Rus people expanded eastward, they mixed with and absorbed many of Turkic traditions, vocab, and people. This eventually altered Russian phonetics (diverging it from other nearby Slavic phonetics). Many Turkic words entered the modern Russian language, and also is why some Russian aristocracy had Tatar ancestry. The regions that is being fiercely fought over by the Russian and the Ukrainians in the current war was historically known as the "Crimean Khanate." (Khan or Kagan is a Turkic-Mongolic title referring to the ruler.) These lands were traditionally Turkic/Tatar territory at least from the 6th century and onwards. Both the Ukrainians and Russians collectively invaded, killed, and exiled many Crimean Tatars during the Russian Empire and Soviet Union. Now Ukrainians and Russians are fighting over how to divide the spoils of wars from the previous centuries.

I'm sorry, but Anatolians and Tatars have nothing in common. The Anatolians are the indigenous population of Asia Minor, they were there before the Turks came... Many Tatars and other Turkic ethnic groups live in Turkey, but your test shows Anatolians. Your Anatolian gene did not come from the Tatars, but in some other way. On the other hand, your Greek and Balkan genes probably came from that Bulgarian great-grandmother, because most Bulgarians have a mixture of Balkan, Eastern European and Greek DNA. Even in my case, according to MyHeritage, Greek DNA is my second largest percentage after Balkan, usually Eastern European is one of the top two among Bulgarians, but in my case it is in third place, and I have not heard of any Greeks in my family.
