Just sold my 16ft camper I had tured in to my she shedd. Full bath kept kitchen intact. Had heat and AC. Fully electrified. I removed bunk beds, kept 1 as a day bed. Remove blanket and put farm table with 4 chairs. Repainted interior and new floor all the way through. I had planned on moving this year and could not take her with me. Needless to say the move never happened. Have to say I miss her very much. You enjoy your hide away.

OMG this came at the best time for me. I just today talked with the manager at Tuff Shed to get costs, upgrades, etc. Mine is only 8 X 8', and I also want a concrete pad. My current shed is metal with basic foundation and the local rabbits, skunks, etc. have made homes underneath it - such a pain. I am assuming the concrete will stop that. Mine is only for storage, but still... Hope you enjoy your new space and have fun fixing it up the way you want.
@ThriftDiving3 жыл бұрын
Hey, great minds think alike!! One tip: when you get your concrete, tell them to make it flat! Tuff Shed didn't tell me to pass that info along to the concrete guy so be raised mine a little in the middle so it slopes for any water that gets on it, but it make the foundation require shims.

You were wise to pick Tuff Shed. They built my little barn shed (12' by 16' with two 12' x 6' lofts in the Gambrel Gables) and our out garage. The barn shed went up in day and the garage is less than two days. They do an amazing job. You are going to love it. We too added insulation and walls. I love that Tuff Shed using 2 x 4 framing.

YAY! Glad to hear that you liked their product and are happy! I'm very happy with mine, too! They work quickly, too. Even the builder said he really loved their product and that it was a solid product. I appreciated that feedback from him.

HAHA, facts!! So funny how when I got the shed, I was like, "It's going to be more workshop!" But I spend so much time in here at my desk working, that I really wanted it to be more like a "home" away from my home 20 feet away. So it's slowly becoming more "homey" feeling than a workshop! LOL

I am just getting my workshop plans to get my permit, and I am going to insulate under the concrete pad for mine. And I am having them pour the pad as level as possible for a shop and not a garage. I was told all garage pads slope to shed water/snow from the car. I am glad I found you in my searches. I have subscribed! CONGRATULATIONS

Lol I love how giddy you are about this shed. I've been watching your channel for years and I haven't seen you THIS excited. Looking forward to seeing how you deck it out. I'm sure this will make for some great content! Also, smart move upgrading from Glidden to Behr. Back when I first bought my house, I used to cheap out and go with Glidden all the time thinking HD was just trying to upsell me but I definitely notice the difference. Glidden is watery and isn't very durable. I usually get the Behr just below the Marquee because the Marquee smell is really strong (and it's expensive).
@ThriftDiving3 жыл бұрын
Wow, this is good to know about the Glidden! The TuffShed guys were complaining about how slow the Behr was drying and it made their install a little more tricky. But I tell ya--when they guy tried to drill into it, he was like, "WOW, this paint is really durable! I'm having trouble drilling through it!" HAHAHA. That told me I made the right choice! :) You just confirmed that. And thank you so much for following along for so many years! You are absolutely amazing for that. THANK YOU!! :)

Waterproof paper goes around windows/ doors, sky lights and spray foam ( prevent bugs/ animals) can be sprayed where concrete and base meet. Moisture barrier ( maybe) could have been installed over concrete floor.
@leslienarveson11763 жыл бұрын
Oh that was so fun to watch. It looks beautiful. I wonder if using something like a caulk or expandable foam in the crack between the cement pad and the structure would help with bugs and critters?
@ThriftDiving3 жыл бұрын
Hi Leslie! The inspector that came to do the final inspection advised me to contact a windows and siding company to get them to do something called "coil stock" around the base, which encapsulates the entire concrete and metal, and then caulks it off, for complete bug protection. I'm DEFINITELY getting that! I just need to find companies and get some quotes.

It looks pretty. I highly suggest you get clear caulking and a cheap shop vac w/ bags, just for the place. After vacuuming the dust the builders left, caulk all the gaps you can in the floor, walls, and windows, especially before you add any insulation if that's planned, as the caulk will seal water, drafts and help to keep bugs out. (But you will need to vent at the top if you heat). And hide non-poisonous glue traps somewhere to get any bugs that dare enter your new place - but you can vacuum them up too.
@ThriftDiving3 жыл бұрын
Good points!! Yessss...I will definitely be dealing the place with caulk as the drywall and stuff goes up. And the glue traps! I hate to think of what will be trying to get in come spring! Thankfully, my bug guy will treat the perimeter! 😉
