I'm converting an old 1997 Vision R40 under seat steering, short wheelbase 2-wheel recumbent. I'm also dropping in a V3 All Axel motor, though I'm going with the rear-wheel model. As for clamps and mounts, I highly recommend T-Cycle (part of Terra Cycle, I think). Not cheap, but very well made.

Any reason you didn't submit this build video into the Grin It to Win It contest? Nice Job!

Thanks! I just didn't want to put "Grin It to Win It" in the title.

@@rachelbrindle Yup, I get it, it just so happened that I stumbled upon yours whilst trying to make sure we didn't miss any video submissions 😁

Do you have the link to the 3D printed throttle mount?

I do! It's on Printables now: www.printables.com/model/997009-recumbent-e-bike-throttle-mount-assembly

Outstanding conversion, and the video is very helpful and well edited. I think Grin Technologies could use this. Conversion kits need much adaptation for long recumbents, you covered the highlights and solutions. I just added a mid drive to an USS recumbent trike, my daily driver, and the solutions were similar: layout wiring with string, struggle where to mount the display and throttle, creative methods to attach the battery, find somewhere to stuff all the extra wire. You could still hang panniers from the rear rack.

I am tempted by the idea of a recumbent bicycle. I dearly love my old Ridgeback Panorama, but nowadays I find it uncomfortable on my neck to be hunched over the handlebars all the time.

Nice video! I have a cruzbike S40. I was thinking of doing something similar to this with that bike.

Do it! It’s a ton of fun, and dramatically improves just about every part of the experience.

But i drive efficiently and coast a lot, so regen is like punihshing me for efficient driving. I get it, a benefit for free is still worth it, but is it free? you lose momentum when you regen, you lose speed which you could have used that speed to go further, but now you got extra juice to go further? 1 step back , one step forward? ... But yeah it definately is free when you break a lot, but thats the thing, once you become a good driver you never have to break, or break as minimal as possible, breaking is a sign of inefficiecy, and the only time regen helps you,. Other times you can argue you can use the momemntum from a hill decent to go further just as efficinetly as regen. Or can you? has anyone tested regen down a hill and how much distance you gain vs just seeing how far you can roll after all that momentum? But you cant argue breaking doesnt lose energy, it does so theres is a benefit there for sure but only if you break a lot. I think its more useful for real cars that have stop and go traffic all the time unlike bikes\ scooters where its easier to keep moving. Anyay nice build , love what grin technlogloes is doing, look forward to more!

Dude, I see your analysis is lengthy but there is not enough actual material to prove something.
