I wear a slim fitting crew neck t-shirt under dresses like this.

Suggestions for a simple top adjustment: 1. reduce the sleeve width and bodice width by reducing the seam that runs from the inner arm through to the bodice hem each side. You may choose to taper in the waist to give it a bit of shaping. 2. Alternatively leave the sleeves as is and stitch three parallel rows of shirring elastic around each sleeve cuff to make a puffy sleeve. Reduce the bodice width by tapering the bodice side seams. You could also add shirring to the bodice waist. I hope this helps!

I'd add an undercuff to the sleeves (for accent and a little more length) and set in a contrast/accent round neck or V into the large neckline

I’m probably too late to chime in with my comments, as you’ve probably changed the bodice of your Carson dress by now. If not, I think keeping the bodice but adding a modesty panel or inset from the Sanderson fabric in would help give you more coverage, and give you a nice way to add more of the Sanderson accent fabric, helping the pockets and patch relate to everything. I love the fabric combination you’ve chosen.

I like your dress, you just need to crochet a lightweight inset or a one button large collar or a smaller shoulder snug...... I agree on shortening the sleeve..... Have a great day from Missouri, USA.

I just got that Japanese pattern book myself and I want to make that same pleated blouse! It's so cute and will be wonderful for summer! I love the patterns in that book but am also worried about the sizing.

Yes I know what you mean on the sizing .... I double checked all the measurements beforehand x

No dont do that. Wear a shawl/ silk scarf anything but change the bodice. Its already perfect!
