I was a young man with those same dreams once, after 5 years of being independent I finally realized I wasn't making any money, the overhead was eating all the good money, Everytime you turn around somebody else has their hand in your pocket or something broke needs fixing, fork lift drivers tearing up the inside of my trailer, that game is for the man with deeper pockets than me, I'm content driving company truck, get a brand new truck every 3-4 years, after you hit a certain age you don't have enough stamina to fight that battle.

With the fuel mileage your truck got, you knew it was never going to be a real money maker. It was always going to be a rolling turd with those gears. And, I assume you were not making top dollar because you didn’t own your own trailer? That truck you were checking out, never be a money maker. Needs a total restoration and APU. Serious truckers drive Volvo’s and FL’s for the fuel mileage. Most work for Landstar or Mercer. Some totally independent, but the Landstar fuel discount and other perks are hard to over come. YT truckers, they generally married money, and truck for a hobby when not making videos’s. Company drivers, only do it cause it’s all they know, or, they want to get away from the ole’ lady. lol, welcome back.
@Peterbilttrucker2 жыл бұрын
While I appreciate you watching the content and taking the time to comment on my videos, neither of my trucks were “fuel efficient” by today’s standards. But they were more than profitable, I raise 3 children and live a comfortable life running these trucks up and down the road. I’m able to maintain them myself for the most part which allows me to cut my maintenance in half. And trust me I’m as serious a trucker as any of them, if not all of them. I take what I do extremely serious and strive to present myself as a true professional in the trucking industry and exceed society’s perception of the trucking industry. I came from a modest background on both sides of my family, most in business/sales on my dads side and mostly truck drivers on my moms side. I chose to drive a truck because I had a deep passion for it, and that passion continues to this day. I have worked extremely hard to get to this point in my career and intend to continue to work as hard as it takes until I feel I have fulfilled my vision in life. The only money backing me is the money I earn and the money I spend, and that’s the way it will continue to be. I have a more than respectable fuel discount and I am fully independent. I married a modest wife who came from a humble household as well, she maintains a full time job while I’m on the road trucking. It’s not a hobby, KZbin does not pay my bills. Trucking is my livelihood and lifestyle. KZbin is merely a hobby to mix things up during my hectic week. Maybe I’m interpreting your comment wrong, and if I am, I do apologize. But wanted to clear the air. As well as the 86 359 in the video, it is purely for your enjoyment, I have zero intentions of purchasing it and working it. Eventually I would like to purchase one and restore for toy purposes, but that is it. Again if I misinterpreted your comment I do apologize. I appreciate you continuing to tune into the channel and staying up to date. Have a great one, take care!
@thesearcherman66522 жыл бұрын
@@Peterbilttrucker-Look, no hate here. I am grinning when i write this stuff. The fuel mileage comment was largely based on the video you made long ago about the terrible fuel mileage your PB truck got, and why, and what you were going to do to try improve it. You explained it very well. The life style comments had nothing to do with you as you do not show any family stuff. But, some other YT truckers live pretty good judging by their spreads, toys, and the money they spend. It’s seems they own their own rig, and drive maybe 100k mikes per year, give or take. Owning your own rig, driving 100k miles, I find it hard to believe they can attain and maintain that lifestyle. The expenses are enormous. One trucker, he put up detailed numbers. He made damn good money when the truck was rolling. But, it takes more than 100k miles to maintain his life style, and, he no longer drives. He just didn’t like the away from home lifestyle. I think people better be very careful getting into trucking or anything for that matter. 45 cents a mile for a newbie driver, with the wait times, it ain’t enough. How long has it been since mega company drivers had a real raise? But, it could also be they are driving more than they say, or, make more per mile????? But, glad you are back. I assumed you were driving big miles making lots of money and that’s why you left. Don’t be offended by me. I am a numbers guy. Best Wishes!
@Peterbilttrucker2 жыл бұрын
No offense taken, like I stated I figured I misinterpreted the previous comment, but wanted to clarify the air. The green Peterbilt defiantly lacked in the fuel mileage category, but thankfully I’ve always had a respectable gig and kept my rate per mile up. Part of the reason I opted to purchase my own trailer again is to capitalize on the demand across the board, plus I missed having my own trailer, if anything is wrong with it, it’s on me and not someone else. Plus there’s not 15 people a week pulling it and destroying it. But it was also a good buy in an inflated market, so I jumped on it. But with the fall harvest having been in full swing the last couple week and just now beginning to slow down hopefully I’ll be back hitting really hard next week sometime. Nonetheless I have a new truck reveal video I need to shoot sometime soon. 😉😉 take care, and as always thanks for checking in!

I’m working on it! I have one bought and sitting in the driveway. Just getting everything switched over and ready to go. Don’t hold me to it, but maybe I’ll have something ready for tomorrow?

Just a habit when I try to make conversation. I shoot all my content off the top of my head. Sometimes I talk out loud while I try to put a conversation together.
