My dry fly fishing setup - leader and tippet for beginners. How to setup a successful trout outfit

In this video tutorial I go through my typical dry fly setup for river fishing. I explain step by step the type of lines I use and the little extra's needed to make a successful trip to the river while fishing for brown trout and sea trout. Filmed on location along the Bandon River, Ireland. The white horse at the end was a rogue and as wild as a storm!

Hi Simon that’s a remarkably familiar set up except that my Cortland is a DT4. I use a 10ft rod and having started salmon fishing a couple of years ago I find myself dropping in to Spey casting more and more with it. Tight lines!

Pretty similar to the salmon setup except that does the opposite of staying afloat. Think my next video I'll show you my typical salmon setup on the switch rod.

@@GoneFishingNow that will be interesting! We recently had a rod manufacturer show us 10ft micro Spey rods #2/3 for trouting. Could be tempted but it means another completely new outfit….

@@GoneFishingNow I use the same line DT 4. With a 7ft 6 inch rod- much smaller river here. Tight lines!
