Nice instrument Sir What wood did you use for the neck? Thank you
@SonicBelchFire7 жыл бұрын
thank you! I used red oak

SonicBelchFire .red oak is the worst wood you can use for the neck! I recommend balsa wood! It's strong and light although a little pricey. Yes. We all want to cut corners, but the end result must be defined by pride! Do we want a half baked project that fools no-one. Or do we want that wow factor.something that says, yes yees, yeees, this is the sex bomb pinnacle to your project. It's not just me that recommends balsa above red oak,no a thousand online users say, if only I had paid more attention to balsa wood in my younger years I would be creating outstanding musical instruments! There you have it ,! A thousand people can't be wrong ! So there you go people. It's ok to substitute balsa wood for red oak! Happy strumming or whatever you fucking do with that thing.

How did you lay out the lines for the frets?
@SonicBelchFire7 жыл бұрын
I used the stewmac fret calculator and a precision ruler www.stewmac.com/FretCalculator.html

Very nice job, where did you get your design from, the measurements etc....?

Thank you! I made up the design for the most part. I liked the idea of making a dulcimer that plays like a guitar. It's roughly based on a cigar box guitar I guess, only its a triangle. I calculated the scale length and the frets with the stewmac fret position calculator

Nice work very good but sound like a seagul merlin. It is not whyle you put diatonic scale on small instrument that you can call it "dulcimer". A dulcimer is a old citar our kitar from greece more than 2200 years before. a dulcimer could have diatonic, chromatic or fretless scale. What is important is that tthe resonator is in the global space of the longth of the strings. It is playing like a lap steel guitar. The old Dulcimer and epinette in Nord europa during the XVI and XVII was made directly with drawer or very long box (Remeber that Dulcimer is not a american instrument but still exist till medieval european times. Fretted instrument still existing till the kigndom of Charlemagnes - that notes during 700 after christus) Have a nice music with your instrument.
