I'm a total novicewhen it comes to ebikes. I bought an ebike conversation kit a few months ago and fitted it without to much hassle but now a few month later I've a big problem. after using my bike to get back from work.which it worked fine all the way from my work to my home.which is only a 5/6 minute ride. I got home. turned the bike off and locked it. I went to get back on it just a couple off hours later and it's not working. the lcd screen powers up and says the battery is working but when I turn the throttle I get nothing. can anyone please please help me with some suggestions on what might be wrong and what I can do to fix it. thanks in advance 👍

Prevention is better than cure. The electrical systems in most bikes are poorly protected and designed. My tip would be to spend time critically analysing the wiring and components and create additional DIY safeguards where needed.

Nice tips. You missed one. It won't start(Shimano) if you got your foot on the pedal when you switch on the power. It's a safety feature to stop you shooting off unexpectedly.

We have tutorial for building literally the entire bike on our own, rebuilding forks, dumper and even fork cartridges. but on motors and batteries there are no informations in the world yet, for a small trouble I had to spend 700 euros and buy a new motor

On my turbo Levo, the 2 contacts in the charging door got stuck in and would not complete the circuit to start up the bike. I did a trail side repair poking them with a stick to loosen them up, then a proper clean at home with electronic contact cleaner. Ron

I have a small domestic Dehumidifier in the man-shed that i run for the duration of charging the bike back up - it seems to really help drying out the whole bike especially after winter rides. But obviously only works in a small enclosed shed or room with your bike.

I recently bought a Norco Sight with 900w/hr battery but it did not work. I bought it online so I took it to local bike shop which sells the Norco Sight. They determined that it was the battery. However, after waiting for the replacement battery for over a month from Norco I bought the 540w/hr. battery as a secondary for short rides. It still did not work! after really looking at the battery and connections I was able to determine that the contact patch where the battery connects to the motor which is magnetic was pulling away and shutting off. I had to wedge in a piece of wood between the battery cover and the connector to press the contact patch on to the battery wire and problem solved. I think the wires are very thick and rigid and were pulling off the contact patch.

Oh no I don't get an audible warning my bike is charging. I get a light that flashes and it seems to work for the last 3 years. I should take it back and tell them EMBN says I should have an audible warning. I paid a lot of money for the bike and I don't get the full ownership experience.

I just checked an I don't get one either. Just rang the dealers and they said it will cost £200 to install something to make a noise when I charge the bike because they will have to make something to make a noise. I've opted to go with me making the noise when I plug it in and see the status light flashing. So now it goes Whooosh when I plug it in.

I have an XF900 Cyrusher but for some reason, my motor won't engage. My battery show 100% charged but when I plug it into my bike and turn on the bike itself only the S900 display works with a voltage showing of 0.010 which is the first time I've seen this on the display when the bike isn't moving. The other odd thing is that my front light turns on but at half the power output and my backlight doesn't work only when the brakes engage the brake light. I have checked all the cables and they all look fine to be. Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

My EBC Model C stops power for 1-3 seconds randomly, regardless of speed or assist level. It never did it until this spring when I took it outside for the first time since November (winter inside, so it stayed warm). I’ve ridden it a few times now and it hasn’t changed, in fact last time, for the first time, it stopped delivering power when using throttle only. I let off and pumped it again and it resumed power after a few seconds. I suppose it’s a connection somewhere. And I hope it’s easier to find since it happens both with assist and throttle. Any ideas? It’s a rear hub 750. Bafang, I think.

My merida e160 8000 doesn't like being left switched on and not ridden for more than a couple of minutes, if left on it will turn off but when switched back on a fault code is on display , only by removing the battery and starting again will it work , easy fix just turn off as soon as you stop riding

Always check that your Magnet is tight and not loss. As it might fall off and you may have to ride 26.6 mile's without the motor in hilly Yorkshire ..... 😪😢😭😢😥

Once I forgot to turn the motor on before ride, so I switched it on as I was pedaling and seconds later came error code. I stopped, reseted motor and it was ok afterwards. Also good to have your manufacturers manual with error codes explained in pdf on your phone.

2021 Giant Trance X E+ Pro 3 I purchased this bike in November of 2020 and loved the bike. But, in September of 2021 I began experience error codes on the controller which led to a dead bike. I would reset the controller by turning it off and on again to resolve the issue for a short time. This problem became more prominent where I couldn't ride the bike. I brought the bike to the dealer and they replaced the controller after waiting for 3 months. Unfortunately, the problem still persisted. They contacted Giant and they were going to send a new wiring harness, however, giant told them it would be 24 weeks until the new one arrived🤬 I was extremely disappointed with Giant's total lack of customer service. Giant seems more interested in selling new bikes then warranty and fix the bikes they already sold. By the way, I live in a dry climate so it would not even be a water damage issue😑

Am I the only one who has had to access the power button directly on a Shimano battery by pressing it through the bottle boss insert because the power button near the head tube has failed????

@@1brokenspoke189 there’s a button on the E8000 series battery for sure and I’m lucky enough that it lines up with a water bottle hole.
