I just fought Elden Beast today for the first time since finishing the game 2 years ago. Having Torrent there to help me close the gap faster or avoid certain attacks more easily, like the elden stars felt great so i'm really glad they finally added this option

How does it make the fight better? The sword projectiles track you so you can't even jump over them, which means you have to chase him on foot every time he decides to do that attack from the other wide of the map. They also made elden stars faster so you can't outrun them on torrent unless you do the usual running behind him trick. I was excited to use torrent when I heard about it but it literally makes the fight worse

@rakhoo5236 obviously you don't use torrent the whole fight, that would just make it infinitely worse. Torrent just helps you avoid elden stars and let's you close the gap super quickly whenever he runs away. Whenever he runs away, mount torrent, get to him and then dismount.

​@@Ar17778dlc bosses have more quality? 😂 Ok go ask pro ER or soulsborne players they will say that romina and metyr's 2nd phase transition aoe attack and radahn's double swing movesets are not good design,they are dodged by using additional talismans that helps to dodge it, which is unheard of for fair soulsborne games, of course you can dodge radahn's attack without being lightweight and without using new talisman for dodging, you have to stay under his right knee which limits your freedom of movement, and sometimes forces you to gave up punish window because you may lose your safe position. Romina,midra, gaius and metyrs design are lazy for remembrance boss.

Messmer Honestly I’ve been so confused by a lot of the talk about elden ring bosses because it easily has my favorite bosses in all of their games on at least a numerical standpoint. The lore, drama, mechanical complexity, visual grandeur, etc is just fromsoft flexing what they have learned since kings field came out in 1994. Bringing experiences that only a studio that continues to experiment and improve upon every iteration can provide. Every single major boss in ER gave me the same feeling I had when I first fought the tower knight in DeS when I was 14 which is “how the hell am I ever going to beat this boss”? Until you overcome your own panic/fear and just learn the fight. Suddenly there are openings everywhere and what once was impossible becomes achievable, even perfected with practice and patience!

It’s a really interesting tierlist, a lot of takes I haven’t seen being used that often! I personally really dislike the Hippo fight, but that’s because I was trying out a new weapon and the dude just charged me while I constantly tried to get used to the moves of the weapon and just ended up getting smacked down repeatedly Mesmer, Midra and Rykard are my top-tier favorite fights in the entire game, setting, fairness (like balanced to fit the player about the time they arrive) and just the absolute bops of the theme they had, I can totally get it you prefer Mesmer over the other two though, mechanically he’s just peak

Rellana to me feels like Malenia if they could have perfected her moveset and made it flow better altogether. Me personally, I can acknowledge that Malenia is a good fight but I just don't have fun fighting her. Whereas, Rellana feels like a perfected Malenia, constant combos with many different variations that almost never slow down. Definitely deserving of SS, cannot say the same for Malenia.

My top 15 ER bosses: 15. Godrick the Grafted S- 14. Dragonlord Placidusax S- 13. Divine Beast Dancing Lion S 12. Rykard, Lord of Blasphemy S 11. Malenia, Blade of Miquella S 10. Messmer, the Impaler S 9. Radagon & Elden Beast S+ 8. Mohg, Lord of Blood S+ 7. Midra, Lord of Frenzied Flame S+ 6. Bayle the Dread S+ 5. Morgott, the Omen King S+ 4. Hoarah Loux S+ 3. Consort Radahn S+ 2. Maliketh, the Black Blade S+ 1. Starscourge Radahn GOAT I personally found the DLC bosses surprisingly easier and simpler compared to the best of the base game. Not the biggest fan of how scripted they are when ones like Morgott and Maliketh are so reactive, with a lot of combo-branching and position-based comboing. Their aesthetics and sound design is also weaker by comparison, with a few exceptions. Messmer's second phase is one of the most scripted and invariable in the whole game, and gets repetitive really fast. I like his arena and music, but I don't love them; pretty picky about understated arenas, and the second phase theme relies too much on long, sustained notes, with there also being a disconnect between the music suggesting Messmer going all-out and me being in grave danger, and mechanically the phase being anything but. I still love him, but he doesn't quite reach the heights of the very best imo. Rellana's arena is pretty mid, with both her and Romina having very weak build-ups; they both needed a cutscene. Love Rellana mechanically, but I HATE how the delayed glintstone blades grind the fight to a bloody halt; they can also sometimes combo with her other attacks in an unfair way. Consort Radahn's presentation and story are the best in the game; having followed Freya and Ansbach's questline in my first run, I was neither surprised nor disappointed by his appearance, nor should we forget we're also fighting Miquella, who I think is a great antagonist. Mechanically, he also has some of the scriptedness the other DLC bosses share along with a few minor frustrations, but the sheer variety of attacks and the varied ways you have to avoid them, combined with the need to maintain such a strong performance over a long fight, still makes it super satisfying and fun. Also, even if he isn't here, Commander Gaius is S-, just so everybody knows. Hot takes all around.

1. Messmer, The Impaler - Easily the best boss in the game from his attacks, his design, his cutscenes, and the windows you have to do anything. Both him and PC Radhan seem to just have times where they stop attacking and let you do whatever you need to to get back into the fight properly (heal or buff) and I find that super cool! Messmer's Assault is also super fun to dodge and not a complete visual overload like how Malenia's Waterfowl Dance was in the beginning, so you don't feel entirely hopeless when you see it for the first time. 2. Promised Consort Radhan - I know I'm in the minority with this one, but Radhan feels way WAY too fun when you finally get him down. Understanding him and being able to get the feeling of knowing what he's going to do before he does it is insane, it kinda feels like he forces you to evolve to fight him. I know his second phase is a visual nightmare, but I also love the lore of Miquella so much that it's always just been cool to me, especially when i realized that you can just stay really close to him and most of the light attacks don't ever hit you. Plus, the music is just insane. Only issue with them is the Remembrance Weapons, could've been so cool to get an actual Miquella sword or staff but we just got Radhan's weapons...again 😭 3. Rellana, Twin Moon Knight - To me, this is just Malenia (my favorite fight of the non-DLC bosses) but she doesn't ever stop attacking if you're close, which feels incredible to learn. Every other move of hers feels like a microcosm of the Waterfowl Dance, overstimulating and hard to react to, but not truly impossible. 4. Bayle, The Dread - Quite literally the best dragon fight in all of the Fromsoft games. Another one where it feels like you have to sort of evolve to fight, but it's mostly just going for the head when every other dragon fight is actually a toe battle lol. Still, incredible music, INSANE Phase 2 transition, awesome lore and super cool arena. I'm just sad I only met Igon once and straight up walked past him without seeing him after the Jagged Peak Drake fight so I didn't even know you could summon him until I saw everyone talking about it online when I killed Bayle. 5. Malenia, Blade of Miquella - Like I said before, my favorite non-DLC boss easily and the only one of the non-DLC bosses I go out of my way to fight every single playthrough. She's just too fun and her lore is too cool, I love her music and her cutscenes actually made me think of what I could do for the lore of my own Tarnished (something I know a lot of people have fun with and done, but never thought of until I fought her). All in all, she holds a place in my heart for that and the incredible fight is just the icing on the cake.
