Normally, I would link the videos to provide context for my criticisms but almost every video by Quantum TV and Red Bandana Gaming were deleted. Still, they doubled down on their terrible takes so I don't feel bad about making fun of them.

Yeah, the one game that's actually trying to be for everyone is WoW imho ... and that's what makes the game increasingly worse. How about pleasing half of MMO fans (which is still a LOT of people) and disappointing the other half, instead of slightly disappointing EVERYONE :D. yeah. and hell, even down to the fundamental core, games are objectively exclusive by default a racing game is not made for people that dont like racing games a fighting game is not made for the people that dont like fighting games a sports game is not made for the people that dont like sports games and so on exclusivity is not a bad thing, more often than not its better because spreading your approach thin, leaves your substance almost run dry so not trying to appeal to the most audiences possible means there's more resources poured into the experience. the world has gotten so bothered by making everything about inclusivity and accessibility (which the latter is fine) that they end up harming the quality of the product, and its kinda sad to see tbh

When I played Elden Ring for the first time, I had never played a souls game. I got stuck on the soldier of godrick in the tutorial cave for 10 attempts. But even I was not stupid enough to attack the first NPC. Also, after playing for only a short while (around getting to Godrick/Ranni), I had a good grasp of mechanics of the game. If you actually TRY to learn the game, you can do it. If you just sit and complain when you are too bad to get past an enemy or too idiotic and stubborn to actually talk to NPCs, you will obviously not get anywhere.

This was my first time ever playing any kind of souls game and honestly I love elden ring - personally I didn’t find it super challenging overall definitely some boss that killed me dozens of times tho 😂 but none of my deaths were cheap - they were just me making mistakes I learned from my mistakes and overcame the bosses - I think that’s a great feeling and message to learn from your mistakes and overcome adversity to make yourself better

All of these people with shit reviews and game devs with terrible takes think games have only 2 possible setups for players. It's the most linear hand holding as possible because we wouldn't want the players to have any ideas of their own or get lost or have to think. Or have it setup so you can just be a total murder hobo with no consequence or boundaries in the game whatsoever. There are only 2 sides and it's the complete extremes. Nuance in game design? I couldn’t enjoy Elden Ring much when I bought it. I was just not good. I was bad at difficult action games. Recently, I picked up Cuphead which has a beautiful difficulty curve and finally realized why people love extremely challenging boss fights. The first time I defeated a Cuphead boss, the rush set in. It was a very different sense of progress. It was not a level up or ticking off an item in a list of quests. The progress was in my head. I had gotten better with my reflexes and control and the progress was saved in my head. I started a new game and my brain immediately knew how to react. It made me realize that you can progress through difficult challenges if you open your mind and embrace failures without giving up. This has now become an IRL philosophy for me. I thus picked up Elden Ring again. And now I can’t put it down.

I always leveled up Vigor/Vitality in Demon's Souls because of the item weight limit, so by doing that, I was able to both carry more items and have higher HP as well.

or do what the average player does: use a wiki. This way you can find out what are the good builds, where the good/important items are, the good tactics to beat each boss and how to realistically do the questlines. I am not entirely sarcastic either, just look at the percentages of the achievements. The secret ending that requires you to do a questline has more completions than the standard ending (6.5% more as of now). This means that among the people that completed the game only once and got only 1 of the endings there are more players that got the secret ending. To get this kind of consistency in Elden Ring's contrived questlines it means that most of the players used a guide in their fist playthrough.

I can deal with some level of weird input schemes in action RPG's - I love both witcher and gothic after all. But the souls games just deviate too far from anything that I consider enjoyable game design and hence I do not enjoy them. Why is the pause function hidden in a submenu for example? If you can look past these things and enjoy the game, I'm happy for you but personally I expect more polish on functional game elements. Someone who pretends that this puts me on the level of Quantum TV just isn't someone I can take serious.

Everywhere in elden ring is meant to keep you on edge, thats the whole point, and adding a pause feature would mess with that experience. If you want to pause and have a break, then you can take the time to go through the menus and do the weird pause menu thing.

As someone that’s always been the type to hate solo games or non FPS games. This game is freaking amazing. I’ve never felt so eager to play a game before than Elden ring or at least since BO2 and prime Fortnite. Sure, it’s definitely harder for me as a player who’s never had to deal with rolling, combo attacks, which element is better against a boss, which one isn’t. It makes me realize that just shooting or movement will NOT get you a win or even better in general. Strategic solutions and thinking outside the box is absolutely needed for this game and I freaking love that. I genuinely believe that’s what games should be made to be. Strategic and helping you think outside the box. Even dying is something you need to take into consideration. It puts me at an edge where I am like “omg, I’m gonna die” and kicks my flight or fight and survivability skills. I’ve never felt this rush of adrenaline being chased by a Knight Calvary or trying to heal and Godrick just throws air at me until now 😂. I’m so glad that the game isn’t easy. Because why would I pay $60 just for a game to be beaten in less than a week or even a month? I want to sit down and enjoy the game. I want to seriously learn while playing, grow as I play. That’s what I believe games are for. Not just “shoot, heal, runaway, heal again, then shoot and dance on him”. I understand what they’re saying and where they are coming from. But this game is so much more than just “game too hard for me so it’s bad”.

Get stuck somewhere? Move on, explore, find a dungeon and get a sick new piece of gear to level and use. The game is only as hard as you make it on yourself. It gives you the tools, you just need to learn how to use them. You're going to die, yes, and it WILL be frustrating, but if you learn from those mistakes you'll begin to die far less frequently. "Git gud" is always seen as condescending, but the real meaning was just to always keep at it and put in the effort. Nobody starts good at Dark Souls, we were all filthy casuls once.

15:00 I've beaten dark souls 1 several times, I've beaten Elden ring once. I've decided to play dark souls 2 scholar of the first sin. And i decided to play bloodborne. I have rage quit dark souls 2 at least 5 times and am forcing myself to play through to the end. I got my meat slapped by bloodborne because i am a very heavy armor tower shield kind of player, and bloodborne does not give you that option. 100% I'm gonna play dark souls 3 and demon souls and Sekiro after beating dark souls 2 and yeah, i think "I've beaten other fromsoft games, how hard can this be?" As someone who played Elden Ring as their first Souls game, I did enjoy it but it was quite difficult so I took a break for a while but still respected it with everything that I am. I just recently came back to it about a month ago and decided to put time into it to learn how to properly play it and it is truly an amazing game, while I may scream at my tv thousands of times in an hour, I still love the game because of the feeling of satisfaction and accomplishment upon defeating a difficult enemy in this punishing game and how much insane variety there is in this game with near limitless potential for builds, play styles;etc.

Hey dude, i just immersed myself in Elden Ring…and I have got to say that it is one of the most amazing games i have played. I have had some serious screaming matches with my TV though 😂. I uploaded a video a few days ago showing my progress or where i was at the time. I have put 200 hours in to this game now and I am now Lord Of Chaos; and I’ve only been playing for almost two weeks. I think if i had to do a review now, the only issue i have right now, until i pass it, is the Crumbling Farum Azula. The dragon is hard to beat, not the greatest camera angles. I just rebirthed again to run with the Gut Greatsword and The Grafted Blade Greatsword. Two of the best heavys in my opinion. I’ve got the grafted great sword up to Ancient Dragon Smithing Stone and the Gut Greatsword is almost there as well. About to try the Dragon again in fact, just to see what i can do now. By the way, thats crazy that anyone would say stuff like that on camera, let alone post it. (Shakes head) Thanks for the video man! You have definitely assisted in making my mind up about this game. Its one hell of a game. And i only tried the first Dark Souls years ago. Played Skyrim though. Anyway, Im blabbing now. Thanks again! HAVE A SAVAGE DAY!!!

As a person who is just now getting into fromsoft games, elden ring being my first, it's not THAT hard, you don't die "a million times", you die when you mess up and then you learn and don't die to that thing all too many times unless you fail to learn from your mistake, the controls are intuitive and easy, after playing the tutorial I immediately knew what I was doing, so it wasn't hard to get into, getting better at the game and learning from my mistakes has been one of the biggest sources of fun from the game for me, the graphics are honest to God beautiful, you don't lose very much when you die, especially when you can just get it back, and this game is honestly some of the most fun I've ever had in gaming outside of baldur's gate 3. I just beat that big magma lizard thingy btw, I felt very accomplished :D

My first rpg was oblivion. I got out of the starting dungeon, didn't understand wtf I was supposed to do, didn't understand even having an inventory system, I turned it off. The next time I played I became obsessed with the game. Same thing happened when I played the first dark souls, now I love these games. There is nothing like the joy of learning and experiencing a whole new world as a newbie and overcoming the obstacles with your intelligence and curiosity. the first time i played dark souls [..wow...12 years ago?] my friend and I attacked the crestfallen warrior because he gave us an attitude...got our butt kicked...learned what it meant to be parried....and...that what was done could not be undone. eventually we got him to fall off a cliff and we learned our lesson [mostly...we did kill the undead merchant for being weird...but that was because he didn't appear to have a weapon and we promised he would be the last npc we killed]. love the games, and unfortunately i live with less free time and can only play elden ring for a couple hours a week...sure, i die, but the game is so great, i don't mind playing it for a long time to savor that "first play through". Art is subjective as story is so yeah that's why Graphical Fidelity is of "almost" universal praise but people like fortnite which isn't realistic or artistically brilliant so yeah... Saying Art good is usually subjective.

One brilliant bit of art direction is how no matter where you are in the world, you can always see the Erdtree. When you get to the mountaintops of giants and see that you're almost into the stratosphere yet still can't see the top of the Erdtree, it really sells how massive and impressive it is, and it makes it all the sweeter when the endgame arrives and you can finally go inside of it.

Guilty but only because of curiosity, i had never really played an rpg (except skyrim) where you could hit npc like that when first playing dark souls 1, i was so surprised I hit him two more times to see what it would do and firelink shrine became a death trap

It's even funnier because, with the exception of *Beast Clergyman, an NPC will NEVER attack without warning even when provoked. They will usually just grunt in pain if you accidentally hit them, persisting will get at least one more warning before they fight back. You cannot "accidentally" provoke them, you have to intentionally deal significant damage before they will fight. They just fight HARD, which makes it less fun to bully them. *He turns hostile when you next meet him automatically, but you respawn behind a pillar placed in his LOS. If he's too tough the devs made sure you can rest/warp safely as he will not spot you until you move closer to him. He can only ambush you once, after that you are safe to prepare.

@@bokute2020 he 100% got asshurt at being called a virgin and thought it was like Skyrim where you can set it to novice, massacre a town without challenge, then reload and act like nothing happened. Even the npcs play for keeps. That's why you have the turtle pope.
