I just wanted to share with you guys my experience and what I've learned during my internship so far with a little cinematic intro hihi, hope you guys enjoyed it.
If you guys enjoy my videos and find them entertaining and helpful in anyways and would love to somehow support me. Buy me a cup of ☕, - www.buymeacoffee.com/thomasdo
Thanks for the support and much love!
Who am I? 🤓
I'm an Electrical & Electronics Engineering student in the UK.
Born and raised in the Czech Republic. (Ethnicity: guess and comment down below :P)
I took a gap year to work for a year in London as a Junior Electronics Engineer before going back to finish my studies.
My plan is to upload more engineering-related content videos with a little bit of a lifestyle vlogs, so stay tuned if you like those videos.
If you have any other questions, please comment down below and I'll try to answer them.

As a hobbyist who has learned the things you talked about on my own, I am in final year university right now and I can really vouch for you when you said university did you dirty. If you ask any student to read a datasheet they wont be able to do it, neither do they know how to design effectively and so many other things but ask them to do some differentiation and they will be able to do it. Its really sad, they dont get taught the basic skills. None of my friends know how to look at a PCB and tell what components are there, they struggle to breadboard circuits and its not their fault, universities just dont focus enough on the most useful skills, we have done breadboarding maybe twice in 3 years.

Yeah, it's really sad how university barely prepares you for engineering jobs. However, it's good that you have done your own projects, this will come in very handy when looking for jobs cause when you start applying, employers rarely care about your grades but they care more about what projects you've done to see if you are truly passionate about engineering. Good luck on your final year, just one more semester and you are finish, that's crazy.

lol I did microelectronics in China and it was a total waste of time. I literally regret each hour I wasted attending their classes. All the focus on theories and academic stuff that doesn’t really help or even prepare students for the future jobs…..

That’s crazy because at my community college I work on bread boards 2-3 hours per day 2 days per week then again I’m an electronic engineering technician degree not electrical engineering

Hi Thomas I'm from Vietnam and your video makes me get inspiration because I will apply for electronics engineer (about motor control and simple power funcrion) position without experience in VN. In the video, you mentioned to design a schematic, "it needs to know how to read datasheet and how to chose a right component is difficult". So, may i ask you for the advice to prepare for schematic design skills because that's what position requires. Thank you !

I agree. ECE or electronics engineering has so many fields. You forgot to mention Network Engineering, TV broadcasting, Satellite. I have learned so much from your videos especially in embedded system. I find it in interesting! Sir Thomas, how can I DM you? I want to ask questions more about hardware development and embedded systems. I'm also an ECE.

So you can dive into some other fields aside from core Electronics fields which are telco and semicon industries.

I'm in my first year in electronics engineering, for you, what is the most lucrative, in-demand and better job scope specialization in electronics engineering to take and focus on? There's a lot that I like but realistically I can't do all of it, so I'm ending up in a dilemma of choosing a specialization to pursue in electronics engineering. I highly appreciate your response. Thanks in advance.
@ThomasDo
@ThomasDo 2 жыл бұрын
ASIC, FPGA or embedded, anything that is half software are mostly lucrative and in demand for starting salary/jobs at the least. However, later down the line, I believe most electronics engineering jobs will level out and likely pay the same as you further specialise in that particular field and if you are good at it, you will always be in demand.

Career here I would say it’s decent not the best compare to U.S. Especially in London the career here is more finance and law focused but most of the electronics engineering jobs and growth is in Cambridge which is a very nice uni town and would defo move there for my personal career growth and wellbeing.

Yeah right. I am in my my first year out of five in University and let's just say after attending a technical university for 2 years after high school, I was really passionate about Embedded systems and started to study hard enough. I am starting a company with a friend who finished college 2 years ago in Nigeria on IoT hardware devices. I'd love to do my internship somewhere in UK, Europe or US. Is this very much possible as I believe I can still learn more? Please who can help out?? Thumbs up to you Man:) I use Kicad rather than Altium but i think I'll have to learn Altium sometime soon.

Hi I study in Turkey and I want to do my last internship at abroad what should I do should I just search for random companies that searching for intern students ? Because most internship programs are summer internships but I need to do my internship in September for 3 months. I would appreciate if you could help me and give me some recommendations when you are available.
@ThomasDo
@ThomasDo Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry, I can't give you much advice on this for other countries. However, in the UK, short-term internships are not as common, but don't worry! Some larger companies do offer shorter options, and there are internships that last around three months that you could look into. Another option is reaching out to individual companies asking for internship opportunities. I've had friends who got lucky and secured internships with startups and scaleups by doing this, so it's definitely worth a shot!

@@ThomasDo Ok thanks. I have few more questions if you have the time. 1) Did you hear if any company provides accommodation for international students? If not do you thing average ıntern student salary can provide a place? 2) Can i find internship in a university because i also want to apply for masters and i think if i could study under a prof as an intern maybe the probability to get approval in that university increases. What is your opinion on that? 3)Do you thing ı should take my chance ın UK for internship because i was actually thinking about Germany but idk maybe UK is better i have no idea. 4)Where do you find companies that the job description suits your interests. Linkedin is so chaotic it does not filter my area(which is signal processing) Also the varıty of companies isnt much in Linkedin 5) Do you have any company or school recommendations ? You don’t have to answer everything i wrote what ever comes to my mind sorry 😅

@@alpborakirte801 Sure, I can help you out with your questions. Here are my thoughts: 1) Some MAANG companies may provide intern housing, but most companies don't. It may be challenging to afford housing with an intern salary, but living frugally can help. 2) Universities offer internships, which can provide research experience and boost your master's application, but it's not guaranteed. 3) UK and Germany both have great internship opportunities, choose based on your preferences and career goals. 4) Use Glassdoor and Indeed to search for companies. 5) Unfortunately, I don't have any specific company or school recommendations for signal processing. However, I suggest researching universities that offer programs in your field and reaching out to professors or alumni for guidance and advice. I hope this helps! Best of luck in your internship search.
