My Dad took Mama, me and Diane to Yellowstone one year. It was gorgeous! Our first day there was spent putting camp together and then Daddy said, "Go ahead but, stay within shouting distance." We took off toward a grove of Aspen Trees, still one of my favorite trees. We were very quiet, so amazed by the wonder of it all. We wandered through the trees until, we nearly rear-ended a herd of Elk, and I mean, we literally walked up right behind them in that grove of Aspen. We froze! The big guy in front of me was much bigger than the Appaloosa on my Granddad's ranch and he/she slowly turned around to look at us. Absolutely stunning, huge! Diane grabbed me and told me to slowly walk backwards, (she WAS older.) and as soon as we could, we ran like hell! BUT, we didn't tell Mom and Dad...

Respecting the animal? They were stressing him out and showing him tremendous disrespect. You need to stay as far away as you possibly can so as not to disturb the animal's natural habitat. My son is a Yellowstone park ranger and he is always lecturing people about what a thousand pound elk can do to you, or a bison, or a bear. But people keep doing it. Stay out of the parks if you can't respect the wildlife.

It is possible he was about to shed an antler. That happens in midwinter, usually around February and they drop them one at a time. I saw an elk lose an antler in Alaska around 10 years ago and he was rubbing his antler on the ground, against trees, pretty much everywhere he could before he lost it. Actually I saw a number of deer and elk with just one remaining antler during that trip. 4:31 4:31

You are the type of creature that someone would see in a bar and ask, "what happened to you, how did you lose your right eye"? Then you could answer, "while on a snowmobile, I thought it was OK, so I tried to drive by an angry Elk Bull and he speared my head". Took 4-operations, and I'll never see out of that eye again. @BPRescue
@BPRescue 4 жыл бұрын
In their defense, this guy probably never got "laid". He was not a dominant bull. Additionally, if he were, he likely got laid anywhere from 5 to 30 depending on the size of his herd... And the rut is long gone, occurring in August or September. As far all those machines and people, this is a 1 lane road that amounts to a loop in the winter. There is endless wilderness in the park with very little impact by humans. Your city on the other hand is far more detrimental to wildlife in the past and today.

Have you actually ever had elk. I have. My son is a park ranger, he completely respects the animals, and he also hunts. He hates and detests people like this that completely disrespect wildlife. When you see a wild animal in a national park, keep your distance way far away, and leave them alone. This is completely disrespectful and my son hates these kind of people

If there were two sleds, that is precisely what they should have done. Clearly they were still running and if he had time to hop on, there was time to hit the throttle. There were multiple opportunities where the bull started to move away, yet they stayed there creating the issue. It's not as though he was blocking the road in front of them. Insert a moose here and there potentially would have been an issue.

Does anybody in that area carry a firearm? At the very least a safely fired warning shot would be a nice option.

Spot on your exactly right. Not enough people carry and too many are afraid to use it when proportionaly necessary as in this case. That aggressive attacking Wapati/ Elk, is clearly posing a danger to the public's safety. As such it needs to be put down; euthanized.

They are in his home and he's posing a threat to them? Hey I've got an idea. Stay the out of his home! People like you pose a bigger threat to wildlife than they do to us. This animal has a right to protect himself in his home just like we do! You have no value for life except for your own.

@@MrKaido93 Human life is more important but that doesn't give us the right to barge into the woods and start killing wild life! According to your philosophy all lives don't matter but they do. That animal posed absolutely no threat to anyone until it was encountered. You remind me of the idiots who visit Yellowstone and try to pet a moose or hand feed a bear. They get too close and they get hurt. Then they want to tell about what a threat this animal poses to people and it should be euthanized. The only people the animals in Yellowstone pose a threat to are the STUPID PEOPLE! So since there are an inexhaustible amount of stupid people on this planet we should kill all the animals in the world to protect them because they will never stop getting too close to potentially dangerous animals! Before I crawl back into my hole I want to say you are one of the biggest blithering idiots I have ever encountered on here. The bus you rode to school was so short you could sit on the back seat and touch the windshield at the same time. You're so narrow minded you can't focus on anything wider than a piece of string. I'll bet your SAT score was in negative numbers. You are an incredibly stupid human being but I want to extend to you a gesture of good will. Please allow me to give you an all expense paid vacation to Yellowstone this spring during rutting season.

@@lannyqualls9428 It's self evident by your response that you are a typical provocatour . Who is an extreamly shortsighted, Narrowminded, Arrogant Elitist Leftist Zombie& Droid Bully. As when you attack and malign me personally not knowing anything about me shows who you are. You just never know who your going to run into. I am a highly educated and traveled person more so than many a "Joe Sixpack"! Secondly, you don't realize that partly I actually agree with you that dumb,illinformed people Do indeed frequently cause situations provoking wild apex predatorial animals in tourist places like Yellowstone etc. That is where education and oversight monitoring by Ranger's come in. My comment is Not focused on dealing with stupid people as you foolisly and erroneously think. For the record, I am an experienced Outdoorsman and Lawenforcement Officer. I am knowledgeable on the various behaviors of different animals. Should I be traveling on a roadway and I see an aggressive apex predatorial animal,( as is in this video) in an attack mode, I'm going to see about giving distance to avoid the said animals and quickly leave, depart the area and inform Rangers Police, authorities as soon as possible. If for some reason I cannot leave egress an area due to a motor vehicle breakdown or other emergency etc. In a worst case scenario, if I cannot leave an area and an aggressive Dangerous animals is engsuging attacking me, If no other options to insure my personal safety are not feasable, I Reserve the right to defend myself based upon the proportion of a threat posed by attacking aggressive animals. Every situation is different. I do not look for provoke or seek out such situations. All I convey is that people do have the right to Self Preservation Defence and Yes the value of Human beings lives superceeds that of animals. People should learn to respect animals and to know as much as possible about the various behavior traits of the various species of animals where they live or travel to or through. Stupidity can get people injured or killed. People need to act responsible, reasonably be smart. Real Education is a mittagating factor. You really need to look yourself in the mirror as you behave, come off as an arrogant provocateur maligner and bully who makes comments on people you don't know anything about. Such are signs of not being smart as well!
