As I commented on your "Get Home Bag" video, the attention to detail is outstanding. All your equipment works together seamlessly, and every item has been tested and approved, as it seems. My car kit has been inspired by yours, and I modified some things: Instead of a sports bag, I use a wheeled duffle bag that can be hauled around if needed. Then, I added some hot glue sticks. I find that kind of glue much more durable than superglue, especially when repairing high stress items like the soles of your shoes. To liquify it, a lighter will do. I also keep a warm jacket and a very small sleeping bag in the car at all times. Since it has become so important, I even put an older smartphone as a backup in there as well. That being said, I tend to not store batteries, pharmaceutical products and liquids in the car due to the extreme changes in temperature. I also keep a screwdriver with an assortment of bits nearby. Another invaluable item would be a whistle for signaling. For added convenience, I keep a travel style toothbrush with a tiny container of toothpaste and a floss stick in there as well. Still looking for ways to improve! Greetings from Bavaria, Germany!

I’ve been watching videos of people using a ratchet strap around a car tire with a stick or pice of 2x4 to get unstuck in mud snow or sand .ratchet straps are also good for securing gas cans on top of ur trunk if you need to evacuate long distance , I’ve also carried large items like window bars for my house on the roof of my old Corolla

Great points. I'm aware of the strap method for rebeaing a tire but have never tried it. As for the other uses, those are also great points! Thanks for weighing-in!

do you have all this in written format? including the pdfs and programs? i think this is the most complete list of things needed in a car. Thanks!

I'm glad that you find this content useful! Thanks for telling me. I'm sorry to say that I don't have anything printable. I might get around to making something like that but I can't promise that it will be soon.

I think you left out perhaps the most important item that you would need in a special kind of emergency. At least one spare pair of underwear! An entire spare pair of clothes while you're at it. Zenni's now offers prescription safety glasses which is pretty cool if you need them. Project Farm also did a neat video on various different 'fix-a-flat' type products. Love that channel. Regarding spills and/or the "go-girl" situation - you can buy cheap sodium polyacrylate which is a superabsorbent powder which is excellent for spills and is likely the ingredient in the go-girl. It's non-toxic and you can get it for like $10-15 per pound on ebay. It might do well mixed with the kitty litter. A usb-A to usb-C (or lightning, etc) adapter would be good so you can view that USB data on your phone. Or better yet, simply put the data on your phone to start with, as well as a cloud service like dropbox so you can access it from another device if needed. You can also keep the ENTIRE text of wikipedia on your device/storage for I believe less then 10GB. Invaluable data on just about anything!

Cat, you always leave me plenty to address. 😂 1) My spare change of clothing is in my Get-Home Bag, which also lives in my trunk for the most part. 2) Seems like a wasted money to me to specifically buy prescription lenses for safety glasses, especially when I can easily store a pair that fit right over my prescription glasses. But I'm sure that would be a great investment for someone who works in an environment that requires safety glasses. 3) Cool, cool 4) The Go Girl is a funnel that makes it easier for women to urinate while standing (e.g. behind a tree when waiting for a tow truck). Maybe I should have explained that but I definitely wasn't going to do a demonstration. 😂

And, yeah, I definitely have a phone set up that is similar to what you describe. For example, all of my medical reference apps are set up so that they work entirely in offline mode. But I could definitely expand that to more general knowledge stuff.

Good vid, I'd move the fire extinguisher and also increase the size. Move it for this reason - if your car gets hit in that area well it's self explanatory, move the small one to a mount in front of drivers seat. Keep a 10 pound in the trunk, car fires are hard to put out. Also practice using an extinguisher, check your city as they might offer free classes. Also missing any extra car fluids. Oil, coolant etc. Great vid otherwise. Edit - keep a jumper pack in your car (small type), there might be times where no one is around and your car won't start.

Definitely a good point regarding the fire extinguisher. I'll keep that in mind. I intentionally left out the coolant. In the short term, water is an acceptable alternative but I would pump it out and replace with coolant ASAP. The volume of water that I carry is enough to completely fill coolant tank and then some. And I never hear about catastrophic oil leaks that would immobilize my car without notice so I opted to omit the oil. But I'm certainly no expert so I'm open to correction, if I'm incorrect.

Regarding the jumper pack, I left that out because the more affordable versions are notorious unreliable and I'm not currently able to invest in a solid one. But in an ideal world? Definitely.

Great Video.. If i may suggest the thing i would add are a few fuses of different amperage size maybe a small coil of wire and a few solder less connectors.. BTW Subbing

Thanks! I appreciate the support. My understanding of automotive repair is very focused on the things that I discuss in the video. To be honest, I just don't know much about the electronics of modern cars. Thaat being said, I realize that replacing a fuse is pretty basic as far as skills go. I just need to get oriented to the relevant systems in my vehicle. Once I do, I will be certain to add some fuses and other electrical repair supplies. Thanks for the recommendation!
