the kaweco iridescent pearl with a M nib also changed my journey. i honestly don’t remember why i purchased a M but it gave me that buttery soft experience that everyone talks about. i really enjoyed your first video and look forward to watching more. your handwriting is gorgeous. the ink swatch videos look fun…i haven’t decided if i’ll go in order or watch the pretty colors first. thanks for sharing your current passion!

Hi Liane! New subbie as of today…first year Hobonichi planner user and now starting my fountain pen and ink journey…but I don’t know where to start. My first pen is Sailor Shikori and it’s the Grateful Crane. I love it! But it’s light, need to find a little bigger and heavier pen. Looking forward to learning a lot from your channel. Do you prefer Lamy over Kaweco?Someone told me to buy samples first and the Iroshizuku inks…😊Thank you for video!

It's so fun to see what other people choose to buy in their beginning-of-obsession binge. Believe it or not, the only overlap you and I have is the vanishing point! I have been wanting to try some of those others, though!

So happy to have found your channel. Thank you for another great video! I can’t wait to watch rest! I’ve just started into this fountain pen journey recently, too, and your videos are very helpful! I’m considering a Pilot Vanishing Point Decimo for my first gold nib but can’t decide on the nib size. Love my extra fines but the extra fine in that pen seems very fine and scratchy.
@lianelikes2 жыл бұрын
Glad you found my channel! I can give you my experience regarding the Pilot Vanishing Point. I initially bought the extra fine nib and found it too scratchy for my taste. I ended up purchasing a gently used fine nib replacement and am much happier with the slightly broader nib!

@@lianelikes May I ask one more question, please (still deciding). Have you ever used a Pilot G2 0.38, and if so, would you say that's how the Vanishing Point EF nib feels to you vs perhaps the Pilot G2 in 0.5?
@lianelikes2 жыл бұрын
You know, it’s hard to say. I would say the VP EF leans more towards the .38 than the .5, that’s for sure.

@anabello72 жыл бұрын
@@lianelikes I have a pro gear slim, not a mini, but I think they have the same 14k gold MF nib. I LOVE LOVE LOVE J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor in it - even though it's fine, there's SO much sheen/shimmer in that ink, it still shows up really well on the paper - even on my Moleskine, which is kind of notorious for not being fountain-pen friendly.

1. That's a nice collection. 2. I hope you get a chance to try a gold nib Sailor with an or broader nib someday, before you give up on the brand. I think they are the best. Though if ultimate smoothness is your goal, Pilot should treat you well.

Just to clarify: if you are a fan of Fine/ Extra Fine bibs, Iroshizuku inks will be a great workhorse ink for you. They are very lubricated inks and I think that's truly why so many dig them.
@lianelikes2 жыл бұрын
That is helpful info, I have noticed that my lines are much wetter in my EF/F nibs when inked with Iroshizuku inks!
@xychen04042 жыл бұрын
Yes. Iroshizuku is a wetter ink. And my pilot fp just seem to write dryer. So I guess that was the intention to make them a good match

Thank you! I am moving beyond beginner and going into a mid-price point for fountain pens now and looking for more ink options. I can't say "Thank you" enough for putting the names of the pens and inks in the description box. I just watched some painfully long videos only to have a name mumbled or forgotten and laughed off (meanwhile telling us what a fabulous pen it is) and no information in the description. So frustrating. Thank you for taking the time to put that information in.

Hi Diane, I definitely do my best to include info for each item mentioned! Thanks for your comment.

I don't have a ton of experience by any means, I'm only a few years into inks and Fountain pens. One thing I have learned is Sailor pens have feedback. I personally like the experience of feedback on some paper and hate it with others. I can say the same with some super smooth wet writers too.
@lianelikes2 жыл бұрын
That is good to know and confirmation of my experience with Sailor. I've tried a few of their more affordable pens (I think they were Compasses?) and returned them because of the feedback. Will be interesting to try the Sailor with different inks, too.

If you like the pen why not either get a new nib that you would prefer or send it to a nib maestro do it get a different grind in the nib instead of selling. I’m sure you know your own mind but I thought I would just suggest it since you didn’t give the reason for your thoughts on wanting to sell the pen. Hope I didn’t offend. Cheers
