I have 12 different varieties to show you. We’ll also take a look at some care tips including how I water my plants, the lighting my plants get, their humidity needs, and fertilizing.

What a pleasant surprise to have discovered your channel. I was actually just browsing thrifting for planters videos when I came across yours. I've recently moved back to Eastern Europe from the UK and had to part with my plants, but for one small cutting of my rhipsalis pilocarpa that was rooted in a thumb sized pot. Now I'm eyeing it every day to see if its fluffy nubs have grown any larger. Its mother plant used to live in North facing windows and you're so right about some of the rhipsalis having a slow start. I was patient and then one spring it just went wild and bloomed twice that year, tiny white star liked blooms. You've definitely awaken my interest in this genus and I might actually ask for some rhipsalis for Christmas. Or I could just check the local nurseries out, I'm that excited. 😊 Have a good one, Gena! I’m so happy you found my channel, it is such a pleasure to have you here!!!!!! The Rhipsalis is the perfect plant to have kept. They are such fun plants! My first word to describe them is always “fun”. They aren’t particularly beautiful in an elegant sort of way….they are more of the sporty, eccentric, throw caution to the wind sort of plant, they are wild and crazy lol. My friend Suzetts Gardens totally got me hooked on Rhisalis. she had a really nice collection. She sent me cuttings and as you say they kind of start off slow thenexplode with growth, I just love them.

That’s awesome! Yeah they kind of just sit there awhile and then bam….the growth starts. My Pilocarpa is just hitting that growth point. Not sure if it’s going to slow down now with winter setting in, but I know next summer it will really take off if it’s anything like my cereuscula. I’m glad you love them too 💚💚💚.

@@ThePinkTrellis LOL Another thing you and I did alike is I also put all my Rhips together. Mine are in an east window though and gt full morning sun. I do have a lace curtin I pull across when needed. Right now tempwent down to 10degrees this morning so I have most of my plant stands pulled back from the windows to help protect themfrom the cold. I gave a little more space for more rhips come spring. I modified one of those rolling closet things to hold hanging and sitting plants.

I just started getting into Rhipsalis the last few months! I love a weird/funky plant and picked up the 'rhipsalis dancing bones cactus' first then got a huge 'rhipsalis baccifera mistletoe cactus'. I more recently got a 'bundle of sticks' plant thinking it was a rhipsalis and if you haven't seen that one before look it up it's an odd one. Thank you for your tour it was a really good informational video for changes I need to make. I bought them in plastic pots but I will change them over to terracotta. Have a good rest of your day!!

I only have one, a baccifera, and it's still a short mound that has not thrown any branches over the edge on the pot. But it's dense, very green, easy to care for, and I find it lovely! Thank you for sharing your collection.

I have 2 Rhipsalis- paradoxa and one that was sold to me as Rhipsalis Ellen. ( hate when sellers don’t use the correct name) It looks like R. ewaldiana!Both were purchased as cutting from Etsy. I also have a Hatiora salicornoides. They are very easy to grow. They are growing in pon that I keep barely moist.

I agree….it is so frustrating! I really think cuttings are the way to go when you want to grow a collection. It’s so cost effective. Now if one doesn’t like to wait for growth than a full plant would be best. I don’t mind waiting at all. I like the accomplishment of growing a small plant into something big. I’ll have to look into the Hatiora salicorniodes!!!! Thanks for the heads up!!!!!

Hi Gena! So pumped when I saw you collect Rhipsalis! Last Winter I bought a collection of 3 in 3" pots online from Home Depot. They're now in 4" pots and doing well. Mine hang on a floating shelf in a Southern window which has some houses and trees obstructing full sun. Mine are in the kitchen which has good humidity. One of the 3 was not marked so hoping it will bloom 3ventually and I'll be able to tell from the flower. Thank you for the tip about Etsy. I live in a rural area so it would be great to get cuttings. I have successfully rooted some cuttings to make a fuller pot. XO

Came back to watch this video. I thought I remembered you posted a seller on etsy. I went right over and ordered the 6 variety of rhipsalis cuttings. That will certainly fill my shelf. Funny many of what I was thinking rhipsalis in my collection reallt are jungle cactus varities. All are thriving and I do love them.

Hi Gena bears! I loved your rhipsalis video! I remeber the first time I seen a rhipsalis! My first one was a pilocarpa but I did not know what it was forever...I am pretty sure I ordered the 6 cuttings from the same place...and my pachyptera just got 3 new baby leaves off the one piece cutting...so keep being patient! I think it took a year!...I love the mycrantha and the sulcata...don't have either of them and will have to add them for sure...your paradoxa has grown so much! You are going to love when your pilocarpa goes more crazy! It is so nice and full....so I like your platycarpa I think it is....that one is going to be huge! Such a nice collection....nice species to pick if you could be a plant! I will have to go around to make a list of mine....I had trouble rooting the ramilosa and it did die.....but since have a new one with 6 pieces....that I got from steve's leaves.....I just love love rhipsalis too so so much and need a few more for sure! Hi Tina 🥰. First off I just have to say I WISH I could see your plant collection in person!!!! It sounds like you have so many amazing plants 💚💚💚. That’s great to know about the pachyptera! I’ve had those cuttings since April of this year so about 7 months. I really hope to see a ton of growth next year!!!! The Micrantha came from gulley greenhouse. I went in person to pick it up. I was actually there again yesterday and they had so many cool Rhipsalis. But my shelves are pretty full so I didn’t come home with any of them. Big hugs back to you!!!! Gina: You said you used a chumky soil, but can you give a little more info? I have a hoya collection and use a chunky soil (atleast I think it is). I would love to know what you use because I plan on getting a rhipsalis collection started in the Spring.

Hi, Loreta! The soil you use for your hoyas should work just fine. I use the same mix for my hoyas and my rhipsalis. It includes perlite or pumice (whichever I have on hand), a quality potting soil like Fox Farms, orchid bark, charcoal, and worm castings for nutrition. The only difference is I make sure I only use smaller orchid bark pieces. There can be some big chunks in the bags which I avoid with the rhipsalis. That's just me though. I saw collection and watched but you don't have mine 😂 I have only one, Rhipsalis Hatiora Salicorniodes or dancing bones or drunkard's dream. Mine has a woody stem and little sections that either look like bones or bottles hence the name when it flowers it has teeny tiny yellow flowers at the tips and its a slow growing plant. I never realized there were so many different kinds.

@@ThePinkTrellis it stands more like a tree and then sort of hangs down it's so different, it's the plant that is the easiest, you just have to occasionally water it, no fussing and hovering over it, it needs about as much attention as a rock.
