Story 1: OPs father didn't change, he lied about everything that happened, if he was actually going to berate Karen he would've taken op's side from the start, he never searched for op, the whole being cut off with the mom's family makes no sense, it doesn't justify not contacting them. He not noticing things in his house disappearing is ridiculous but somewhat believable.

He noticed, just did not care. He lied about his stepson having cancer, and did no care about his own child being assaulted. I will put money on Karen being an AP.

Always wild when these stories feature a person being disowned but the person who did the disowning doesn't get blocked and can just get in touch with the person they disowned. The OP's father should've never had a way to contact OP smh

You can care for someone but not be married. Husband forced an open marriage with OP . That's not love. Because it would be weird or you can't see a life without him is no justification for staying with him. He's not happy his side of the open marriage because no one wants him, so he wants to close the marriage now.

The brothers probably hate OP because he left them to the mercy of their father when he ran away. Yhe father probably became more vicious with them to intimidate them and make sure they would never run away.

Well, not only that, Op SA'd them just like the father did, and he said himself that he did things the same cruel way his father did. Not only do they all need intense one on one therapy, they would need family therapy, the three of them, AFTER they had been in individual counseling for a while.

They weren't explicit in the end, but it does sound like the cancer was fake. That was never actually said, but it follows implicitly from the other details. OP's Father just has a very needy second wife, and her grown son mooching off of him. He has to keep the parasites happy, I'm sure that's where the money is going. It sounds like they're in the states. If "John" is the unemployed, deadbeat his brother claims, he'd qualify for Medicaid to cover the treatments. They wouldn't need a lot of money in that scenario. The stepmother sold a grand piano belonging to OP's mother. Used, those range for $25k-$45k, they're not cheap. Compulsively helping themselves to other people's money seems to be a running theme with them. OP was disowned, so they are NOT her family anymore, that's what "disowned" means, and there's no taking it back. But let's assume he does have cancer... If she was going to donate $12k to help someone fighting cancer, that would be amazing, but there are millions fighting cancer who she is also not related to. Maybe she should start with the other non-relatives who didn't steal from her dead mother, physically assault her, abandon her, lie about her, extort her actual relatives to screw up her wedding, and try conning her with a pathetic sob story. And I love that her fathers excuse for all this was that he was sorry, just "too proud" to admit it, lol. Proud of what exactly? I don't think he even knows what that word means. But to a man who feels no shame, pride is likely an equally alien concept.

Story 1: OP should have gone directly to the police station and filed a report. There is no excuse for a grown man to assault a teenage girl. After that, girl for emancipation and sue, sue, SUE. If OP can’t emancipate for general purpose, at least file for limited purpose emancipation and move in with supportive family. Get the dad’s wages garnished by the court so he has to take care of OP financially. It would be nice if OP could get GP emancipation and control of the house, wage garnishment from dad AND from stepmonster as well as from John as compensation for the assault….but that’s aiming for the moon. OP should definitely make her story known to the family…heck, consider telling the local news reporters. Get that family shamed. Also, sue the dad for alienation in trying to prevent people from attending her wedding. Do not give a red cent for John’s cancer treatment, he is facing poetic justice for his past crimes.

What killed me the most and that makes this story the absolute least believeable is that the husband believed that his wife couldn't get partners. EVERY man knows that almost any woman, fat, short, skinny or ugly can get laied with FARRR more ease than the average man and most models too. For him to assume so belies an idiocy that entirely unbelievable. Hell it is 99.9% of mens greates fear to be betrayed and cheated on by their significant other for a reason. It is simply too easy for women.

Story 1 is proof that you shouldn't give these kinds of people a second chance. Forgive them and move on. If you're happier without them in your life then there's no need to reconcile. It's good that they named her Karen. A witch pretending to be the victim. As for story 2... Why even stay with someone who wants to be in an open marriage? They want to mess around without worrying about the consequences, but the moment you find someone better they suddenly want to close the marriage. Honestly I say the moment they suggest opening the marriage that's when you should go talk to a lawyer

My big sister did inappropriate things to my sister and I. I was so young, probably 6-7. I don’t even remember because it was so long ago. When my sister finally remembered her experiences, I felt I was finally set free from pretending. I finally wasn’t alone in carrying that shame and alienation. But big sister seems like I either lied, mixed up things, I don’t know. That woman stopped being my sister the day I finally defined what she did to me. She stopped being my sister the moment those memories weren’t just siblings playing around. I’m filled with disgust and apathy at her existence and even though people will still live her as family, I’m so glad I’m free.

Story 1: Op shouldn't fall for her father's lies, the Karen stepmother, her stepbother(John) who instead of expecting money from the stepsister he attacked should just make peace with her and perhaps himself. Update to story 1: I'm glad the other brother spoke up about the lies before Op could give her sperm donor and step monster money on a lie.

what he said was horrible, every single word was full of poison, and is still in question if he changed? just because hollow word sound relatively good doesn´t mean they are good, he did so much damage to his child and when trying to get money deflects any and all responsability between karen and op, i didn´t notice a giant piano was missing, every one was cornering you but i had a duty to not let you even try to defend yourself, a horrible "figth" happened, that should at lest sound, you can´t start kicking someone in the floor while no one else notice but sure, he didn´t even knew, i didn´t hate you, i just tried for ten years to isolate you from my side of the famiy, it was karen fautl that i made an ultimatum to ruin your wedding, see i´m a change man, but of course i didn´t needed to change because everyone around me was at fault

Story 1 - op's sperm donor is full of it. How can he say John is a better person when he's never apologized. Op was a fool for almost falling for this crap. Asking the child he supposedly disowned after one of his sons assaulted op just makes him a selfish monster. Karen is ironic calling op entitled when she feels entitled to money that wasn't given to her. Op's grandparents should have called their son's bluff and threatened to use his inheritance all on op if he was going to go through disowning his parents. If he's not their son he's not owed inheritance anymore and it sounds like op's sperm donor is going to be desperate for money after paying for those cancer treatments. Story 2 - NTA. Funny how Leo only put effort into his marriage once he realized he could actually lose op to a better man. Get divorced. This idiot wanted to cheat without shame or consequences. Leo doesn't love op. He was banking on op's low self esteem and self worth to keep her around as his saftey net once he had his fun with his side chicks. He's scared of being alone and isn't confident about his chances entering the dating field as a newly divorced bachelor. Story 3 - This story was tragic. It went from sad to horrifying within minutes. Op's sperm donor is a monster.

Story 2. The husband does suck for suggesting the open marriage just to sleep with his co-worker, but I feel like something OP said needs to be addressed. She dismissed his "kinks" entirely, which is her right to do, but at the end of the day, when you have a partner, you need to compromise to eachothers needs. She says that the sex with the other guys was amazing but wasn't willing to experiment with her husband? I think you should probably make sure you're sexually compatible before commiting.
