My take on this is that Ops parents were fundamentally good parents who did their best under the circumstances given. I think Maggie was hurt and felt rejected when the parents left her with the grandparents. She misdirected her anger at Op instead of her parents. The parents did their best to make things up to Maggie. But instead of parties and trips, they should have invested in therapy. Maggie is the kind of person that you can never do enough for. Doesn't take accountability for her behavior. And is manipulative. The parents dropped the ball with her. But, i think they did the best they knew how at the time. I'm glad Op went NC and pressed charges. Maybe that year in jail will give her time to reflect.

Yes, and I hope sometime in the future OP might be able to do some selfreflection, too. Even with her writing the story I can't shake the golden child vibes. And remember, nobody is the villian in their own story.

The parents should have put the sister in therapy a long time ago. They could also have taken turns during OP’s hospitalizations to spend individual time with the sister.

Did OPs parents ever got her sister counselling? I love how OP just brushes over the obvious hurt her sister had and how her parents never really saw an issue with leaving a child on the sidelines. What OPs sister did is appaling, but what OP and her parents did by basically blaming the sister for being deeply hurt without any form of help given doesn't paint a favorable picture at all. From the outside, if I were the sister I would have cut ties with sickly golden child and parents a long time ago. They didn't even care enough to give her psychological help, just throwing money at the problem as if money could replace love. I really hope OPs sister gets the help she needed all those years ago. Also I highly doubt the prison thing, tbh. Without priors a year's sentence would be on parole. But I think that depends where they live. Anyway, if that is real, I wish OP will sometime find the inner perspective to see her sister's side. But I doubt that she is capable of that.

How long was Maggie away at the grandparents? Sounds like a few months at once but a lot more before and after. That must be traumatic and if she keeps bringing it up she obviously isnt over it. Therapy would have been needed long ago. Then when Maggie got married (ignoriering that she wanted to win) OP put her in a dilemma with the pregnancy. Either OP steals part of the show by default, no matter what OP does people will fawn over her, or Maggie will be the bad guy by disinviting her. Pushing her in that moment doesn't seem unexpected for me. Does two really should have gone sepperate ways long before. I think Maggie needs and deserves that time in jail. But the parents shouldn't abandon her again

Well not sympathaising with maggi but children with unfit siblings often left neglected even you see from your pov you think she's looked after but you never know what she's actually feeling maybe you don't think you're the golden child but she was also a child who couldn't have her parents attention like her sister not blaming you for your health but she was also a child though what she did is vile and disgusting
