Your videos are so helpful! I love the Paula's Choice 1% retinol booster. I hear it's easier on sensitive skin than the Clinical retinol. I mix it with the Paula's Choice Ceramide Enriched moisturizer that you mentioned.

I so love hanging out with you while I do my skincare! I'm 25, I have oily skin, this is my PM skincare: • Garnier Micellar Water: (the pink one - the formula is simple and doesn't have alcohol) On a reusable cotton pad with a slight, gentle abrasion to help aid exfoliation.I swear that this alone has bolstered my exfoliation game and improved my skin texture. • Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cleanser: I clean my face with an ultrasonic vibrating brush thingy and then thoroughly go over my face with a microfiber cloth. • The Ordinary Glycolic Acid Toner: I pour a little in the palm of my hand (I prefer application this way - more thorough, less waste) and I bolster the acidity with a few drops of 50% pure glycolic acid. I find that as I've acclimated my skin to acids, it LOVES more! It took months to fine-tune how much acid my skin needs, vacillating between under-exfoliation and over-exfoliation, but I know what it needs now. • 0.25mm Dermaroller: Every night! Increasing the absorption of all my products - face, neck, chest and hands. I do it after my glycolic acid so that it doesn't burn. Besides, I don't think glycolic acid needs to penetrate the stratum corneum too deeply. • Hylamide Pore Flush spray: I'm still tentative about sprays, but I'm seeing this through! • Hada Labo Hyaluronic Acid serum: Love it for hydration and applying it before my other serums because it increases the spreadability. And I could be wrong, but I like to think that by applying multiple molecular weights of HA, as a humectant, it will drink up the moisture I put on top with the proceeding serums. For my actives, in both AM & PM, I use 2 actives, but one of the actives is rotating day by day and the other is a staple active I rely upon consistently each day. • [rotating active] The Ordinary Niacinamide + Zinc OR The Ordinary "buffet": Switch each day so that my skin can get a wide array of benefits. • [staple active] Tretinoin Gel 0.1%: Honestly? I started at the highest strength as my skin is seriously tough, used to peels and all manner of stuff, and I buffer it and do it over moisturized skin. • The Ordinary Natural Moisturizing Factors: As you can tell, I love the Ordinary! My favorite moisturizer ever. Applied thinly before Tretinoin and also after. • Vaseline: Literally just simply Vaseline, and a generous amount of it. It just occludes everything and inhibits that trans-epidermal water-loss. Then I sleep in a silicone mask that drives the hydration into the skin and I swear, my skin is ridiculously hydrated by morning. I've heard chatter about "over-hydraton", but I'm dubious as to whether it's simply sensational headline-fodder because my skin feels great. You probably think this is a bunch of complicated crap, but I'll have you know, by the time I'm 70, I'm going to be looking 17!

Hi Nadine, very helpful video. I just wanted to point out that the superdrug hot cloth cleanser has fragrance in it, at least it did when I tried it, looks like it still does according to the website. I had an allergic reaction to it (I can't tolerate fragrance at all, really should have checked the box before buying it). Just in case any other viewers are sensitive to fragrance. I love the boots one though 🙂

Thank you for next great video Nadine and thank you that you are there! Only thanks to you I got in to beauty and made proper beauty routine with my skin 😘 I would like to ask you for advice... I struggle to find good night cream. I’m in my late 30s with sort of combination skin, but surprisingly I’ve never had breakouts, black heads, no pimples at all. Sides of my face are quite normal - smooth and plump, high points of my cheeks are on dry side - dull with tend to seasonal rosacea and my t-zone... ehh... is another story... I’m not sure actually how oily it is because it’s sweaty. Any stress, any hot food (which I love), warmer days and any night cream that I’ve tried make my forehead, upper lip and chin wet almost instantly! I’m looking for some kind of lightweight night cream rich in actives but without retinol (as I use it separate twice a week) that wouldn’t make my face sweaty and won’t break a bank 😉 Thank you so much! 💗

Encouraged by your work, I got my first-ever retinol last week: SVR's Ampoule lift at .3% . I'm wondering if I can layer it with my favorite Caudalie Vinoperfect radiance serum. Hello Nadine, first thank you so much for all these videos and info. I have a real mind nerving dilemna and i hope, even if i am late to comment on this video, you can answer it: i have some sun spots on my face from working many years outside on the beach or ocean (pro diver as a firefighter after many teen years of beach lifeguarding). They are lately (for the past year and a half approx.) more in number and colour, and i fear a starting melasma as they are at the beginning of my hair line on forehead and cheekbones+ jaw. They are more like individual spots than a big area of pigmentation. So after researching (from you and Caroline Hirons), i started an antioxydant regimen in the morning and the DCL Night Scape 30% in evening (with 2 Neostrata Retinol a week). The problem is my skin is looking like sh..now (turning dehydrated and on the combination side, looking dull, etc) when i used to have the most lovely skin. I do use spf every day (50) and wear a large hat each time i am outside. So 1)is it a good idea to use such powerfull vit c during the summer when it can make it more prone to get pigmentation since removing the 'outer' layers of the skin?and maybe better to wait for autumn; 2) is there any other way to tackle pigmentation during the sunniest month without making further damage? I know it's long of a comment but i feel lost and desperate, further more since having invested in high end products i am not sure to be using right. Much love from France

I’m finding that retinol is really working!!!! I have the indeed retinol... I’m probably going to run out of it soon, when I do, what would you suggest a ‘next step’ retinol would be after this? I do have fairly tough skin (as my facialist once told me when I didn’t react to a peel haha) but I’d still like to do it right and up my retinol in steps so as not to disrupt how well my skin is doing! Thank you again xx

@kayceem5956
@kayceem5956 4 жыл бұрын
I'd guess it's just a matter of knowing you're diluting it, so you could theoretically go up in retinol percentage and mathematically it'd be the desired effect. Like she said: 1% retinol + an equal amount of moisturizer either layered before or mixed in the palm of your hand = .5% retinol. 2% retinol + equal moisturizer= 1% retinol.

My skin always looks hydrated and then I put on foundations (that are supposed to be good for dry skin) and immediately my skin looks like it needs to exfoliated again even if I had just done it. Looks like it’s dry and flaky. Any thoughts on what might be going on or products that could help? I don’t use a retinol now but just bought the PC to try. Appreciate your thoughts

Hello Nadine my name is Bridget and I’m reaching out from Southern California to ask you what you advise for the hands when you have grown up in the sunshine on the beach and you are Irish which equals freckles ...my hands are not too bad but there’s always room for improvement girl ...what would you suggest as the gold standard for a daily handcream. By the way I just discovered you on KZbin a month ago and you are now my gurus skin friend😎

Margaret Dabbs hydrating lotion is brilliant but not sure if available in the States. I’m going to look at having some filler in my hands 🤪🤔

You said in another vedeo about perioral dermatitis that you don't use any active ingredients but only very simple soothing creams as your skin is prone to the skin condition...I have been restrictly following that advice as I am also fighting the PD....now I am confused, so can I use my retinol and other actives or not?

I’ve just started retinol after discovering you in lockdown. I have hyperpigmentation though so should I concentrate on tranexamc acid ( bought but not started!) at night or alternate with retinol???

Great video as always 😊 just wondering will you eventually move up to tretinoin? I’ve been using it for 4 months now but it still makes my skin sore. Debating whether to move back down to retinol. I did try the Paulas choice 1% before my tret but even that made my skin sore. I might stop tret and buffer a retinol instead but I’m afraid stepping backwards would be a bad move 😞

Hi Natalie, don't move back! Keep on with it, it took my skin 8 months to finally adjust to it- until then, I was basically just managing the side effects and irritation. I was sure this stuff is the DEVIL! And then month 8th came... and wow!! I am 45, my skin is amazing and it sort of came overnight after all the dryness, irritation. I use it 4 nights a week. Hope this helps 🙂

Ágnes Juhász thank you so much. I needed this positive reply. I’ve been so down with it. I’ll stick with it and wait and see. I’ve read so much positive feedback about it that I was really disheartened that I have not been seeing any difference in my skin and yet having sore skin xx 😊

Natalie, I have very sensitive skin, and my dermatologist started me on the 0.25% Retin-A. I've been using it for two years now, and I still can't use it every single night. If I do, my skin becomes irritated and red, and my skin NEVER stops peeling. It's fine on my forehead, but not on the rest of my face. My dermatologist said I should not try to go up to 0.5%. Some people, like me, with fair skin, blue eyes just don't tolerate it well. I would suggest going down one step to see if that makes a difference. You could try using it every other night for awhile and gradually add in an extra day to see how your skin reacts. It takes time for your skin to get used to it. That was certainly the case for me. In the beginning, I could only use it twice a week! After four months, your skin is still getting used to it. You want it at a strength where you can tolerate putting it on every night without so much irritation that you have to stop using it just to give your skin a break to let it recover. If it's sore and red all the time, your skin is trying to tell you something. Some people have "tough" skin, and other people don't. We're not all the same, so what works for some doesn't necessarily work for everyone. Listen to your skin! Experiment to see what works for you. Definitely don't give up, but if your skin is sore all the time, you do need to make some adjustments. Good luck!

@@nataliewilliams1111 do not be discouraged, I also was about to discontinue it at month 4 and month 6... I was sooo bummed about it, and that my skin looked WORST! And I just kept listening to derms saying stick with it! Do not stop, but maybe use it only 2-3 nights a week. It will still work ! And ditch ALL AHA-s, for me that made things really angry. Use really gentle creams withe tretinoin, the simpler the better 🙂

Just a question, if you have a salicylic serum with retinol listed as another ingredient added , can you apply a seperate retinol over the top or would you use both of these but at different times of the day?

Nadine , do you really think retinol is as good as retin A , I started using it around the time you did and really wouldn’t be without , I went slowly and had minimum irritation .

Hi Nadine, I love these videos- thankyou!! Lately I’ve got really bad redness (around the nose, cheeks & chin and keep breaking out. The doctors think it’s hormonal as I had a baby six months ago. However I’m at total loss and just don’t know what to do to clear it up. Any advice would be hugely appreciated. I’ve started cleansing with CeraVe & also using the Paula’s choice 2% gel xx

Hi Nadine - absolutely love your videos, thank you. Please can I ask, how do you combine retinol and high-strength vitamin C or Tranexamic acid? Would you alternate? Or 5 days retinol, 2 days alternative? Would love your advice, i'm keen to tackle a little pigmentation on my face.
