Bro let me let you in on a little secret... college professors are a fucking lobby. They have so many laws (and so many people protecting them) that they're basically impossible to fire. College professors are free to teach their classes however they want, the only standard that they are held to is that they cover all of the arguments listed in the syllabus. As long as they do that, they're a-okay, and nobody can (directly) force them to change the way they teach. I mean, I see why this law came into practice, freedom of thought and whatever, but some people abuse it. The only way that the college board would do something about it is if the guy was directly causing people to drop out (see: hurting the school's profits). And even then it's very hard for them to get fired, they'd probably be moved to niche graduate courses where they can't do much damage. The ministry of education himself wouldn't be able to do shit in this case. It doesn't work like that in college. College professors have no bosses. If other professors care (difficult but can happen) they can pressure him into changing his ways but let's be honest, if a professor is trash at teaching (and a trash person) he can't become better at teaching just because of external pressure. The most that can happen is that standards go to hell, he keeps being trash at teaching and makes easier tests, or (more likely) he keeps sending out the same tests and students simply memorize the problems and pass the course without understanding shit. I've seen it happen too many times. All of that being said, it's absurd that a new professor with zero teaching experience was assigned a mandatory undergraduate course. Those are reserved for experienced professors, with at least 10 years of teaching under the belt. New professors are assigned to optional graduate courses, because they're easier to teach (grad students are much smarter and are used to handling course material without assistance) and because usually these kinds of people excel at a very niche field that they've worked on all their life, which can be the subject of a grad course (which tend to be very specific).

Omg lecturers are the same everywhere even in Nigeria. You are right, most of the lecturers are hired because they are intelligent and not because they can teach. They don't know how to make slides. I have a lecturer who freaking copied a whole journal for her slide for just one topic. Like a 6 pages journal with tiny font random references, there is one with tiny font size and he basically just reading the slides, it got to a point he couldn't read his own slide and it is a calculation course and you reading the calculation instead of solving it. I can begin my own ranting here and being a pharmacy student sucks, don't study pharmacy kids... It's not worth. Back to reading for exams 😑
