I think it sounds like she took his half of the $20k emergency fund too though - remember, she said they “both” brought $10k to it. So she took $14,800 of his money and is refusing to give it back. You know it's going to be crazy when they acknowledge they were in a toxic relationship but decided to live together anyways. That's first. Second, she's a crook. He helped pay off her debt? He shouldn't do that to you, but he should take you to court and force you to pay him back. She's wrong. He was dumb for moving in with her if it was toxic. Also, Dave and John are nuts. She stole his money. Wow...

The guys then acted like he made those threats when she never stated if he did or not. The way she wrote the letter makes me believe she was trying to make herself look like the sole victim here to get the exact response the guys gave. The whole thing reeks of her being a manipulator.

Just No to this response from Dave and Dr D. I'm an older female, and this sounds like she definitely scammed him! She Never said he actually threatened her with going to her boss or to her child's school. She said she feared such. She's a con artist who knew exactly what she was doing and what her end goal was. The guy isn't the only one who was intentionally harmed here. More importantly than the money issue- is that she subjected her child to this "live-in toxic situation". Love the Dave Ramsey show, but you guys completely dropped the ball on this one.

If she took the money and won't return it, or can't return it cause she doesn't have it and goes around telling people this weather it be her boss her parents or her priest it might not be nice of him but it's not a threat. If this gets him his money back quicker or cheaper more power to him why should he have hire attorneys take off work to sue her in civil or small claims court. If she doesn't like things like this being said about her maybe she shouldn't have done them to begin with.
