My Experience at Joffrey Ballet Summer Intensive

Hello! Wanted to ask you if the programme is friendly for beginners in ballet. I almost have no ballet experience but am attending the programme in 2 weeks, and am nervous. Is the environment open to beginners?

This is so cool and it looks like fun. I'm going there this summer and I'm scared that I won't know where to go or that I'll be confused. So were you confused about what to do and where to go when you first got there?

Kay Brianna it was a lot to take in at first! But the people there are really nice and won’t let you get lost. I didn’t sign up to have an escort because my roommate already knew where to go, but you can if you are nervous! Good luck!

Was there 4 people to a room in all the dorms, or just the one you were staying in? I'm going there next week and I was wondering how it was in the dorms. I'm assigned to West End, if you have any idea which one that is 😂

Yeah! I stayed in West End as well, it was pretty chill there, smaller than the other dorm which I liked. Most people did have four people to a room, but there were a couple with only two. It's a ton of fun though!

I would like to do this summer intensive but I'm from France ( my english is really bad, sorry ) and I don't know if I can apply only in Joffrey ballet school's website. How did you do the auditions ? and do you know when applications close ? Thank you so much for answering me and for this video!!

how many girls were at the intensive? were they all very good or some not so much? I'm under the impression almost everyone gets in. Just wondering how good the dancers are? Thanks!

There were quite a few girls there, probably about 20-25 per group and like 10 or so groups for the ballet intensive. As for how good they were, it really depends on what group they put you in. Some people are really really good, and they usually do a lot more intense and difficult stuff than the people who aren't quite as good and are in the lower levels. A lot of people do get in, but they are more selective when it comes to levels, at least that is what it seemed like to me! I hope that helps!

Just do your best and be willing to work hard, but remember to have a lot of fun as well! At the audition, don't get too freaked out, it's really not as bad as it seems! You're gonna do great! Good luck!

What do team colors mean? Is one better than the other?

It’s just how they group their levels, so they do have some that are better than others, but they never say what the highest or lowest is

You can stay there anywhere from 1-6 weeks. I only stayed one though. The days went from like 9-4 with an hour break for lunch
