I think that's what he meant, my buddy and I worked for a Hutterite Colony last fall doing some ditch cleaning work while they were busy trying to get their crops off the fields before it rained or snowed. They were awesome to work with loaned us an extra laser receiver, fed us and lots! And did some welding for us. And always really nice people.

Every church should have a sense of community, I got very sick in fact I was paralyzed for seven months and could not work for over a year. Every bill was paid and no I did not take one penny from the government! Our church stepped up the people in our church overwhelmed us with kindness and love. And with finances. We are blessed beyond measure. It's fun to give but it's not always fun to receive it's very humbling. What a beautiful testimony. And by the way like the end part of your video. Happy trails Luke

What shame would there be if you did take from the government? That's why governments exist, to serve their people. Not everyone in my experience, almost no one has a community they can rely on. Things change, one day you might not either.

Your comments on community reminded me of the book 'Tribe' by Sebastian Junger. He talks about how American culture is so individualistic now, and the reason some veterans have trouble adjusting to civilian life is because they loved the communal/family aspects of the military and aren't finding that when they leave it. It's an awesome book.

Frank B Excellent idea. When I was about 9 or 10 years old, my father made a wooden tool chest for me, with a little assistance from myself, and started me off with a small collection of tools and a Wolf electric drill. Unfortunately my father died when I was 12, but although I am now well into my 70s, I still have fond memories of making that tool chest. Naturally I still have the tool chest and many of the original tools, and would not part with them. It would be a nice project if Cody built a tool chest for Jack, so that he could have a set of tools that he could call his own.

My father was a tool collector. This has made it extremely difficult to thin out redundant tools. So part of my solution has been finding other family members that need certain tools. This "keeps it in the family", and I don't have to keep 43 hammers, 60 screwdrivers, 14 crescent wrenches, etc.. I love my Dad's tools...

I’ve been watching your videos for a while now and this is the best one I’ve seen yet. I’m very blessed to have my family who have kept me from being homeless for a few years now. And without their help I wouldn’t have been able to get time with my daughter who lives with her mom in Colorado while my entire family lives in Arizona. Your comments on community hit home with me in a big way. My parents Home burned down a month ago and we’re double blessed that nobody was hurt and we’ve had help from family, friends and our community. I had been thinking of starting my own KZbin channel where I would find what I call treasures from what people discard and upcycle them. That’s going to have to wait until we have a new home hopefully soon and can build up our tools again. there is a sting of sadness to lose tools handed down from grandparents that really have a great emotional value beyond price. Like you though I will keep positive thoughts and continue to work as I’m able to make my life and those around me better. Thank you for sharing. Keep it up brother !

I'm a contractor in pa and I'll say this there cabinetry is beautiful. But some of these pole building and framing they do are just rubbish. People think because it is Amish made that it will last forever But that is far from the truth. Besides the cabinetry I haven't seen any problems with anything I have came across. There not what they use to be or in some cases they are which is not a good thing times change and codes change.

My wife and I truly do enjoy your videos and we are so glad that you're a big enough person to see past all the negativity. You always have great content and today was especially inspiring because I'm working on organizing my garage and trying to make a work space with all my tools being stored in a user friendly fashion. We have a duplex so that my mother and father could live next door. Along with that came double and triple the tools but we're working on that. My wife loves having them here and feels so blessed to be able to say that she loves having her in-laws just down the hall and through a door. We don't know many people who can say that. We have some neighbors who are a joy and sadly others who aren't so much so. We appreciate what you're saying about community and wish you and your family all the best. Your son is learning amazing things from you that will stay with him for life which is beautiful to see! He will grow up to be a fine man. You're doing a fine job with your channel and we hope you will keep at it! Thanks for the work you put into it. It is so much appreciated!

Ben Poliquin Well said Ben. You'll have plenty of time to pick up various life skills and maybe work on one or two while you're at university. Your degree is critically important though as it proves you know how to learn. Way back when I learned how to bake when I was in school. Seems very simple but it's a diminishing skill. Start a journal of things you want to learn and refer to it often. Settle on a couple and go for it. Good luck sir.

Ingalls Creek Wilderness Outfitters You're mistaken. This is not lying. The definition of a lie is "An intentionally false statement". Cody's titles are not false statements, they are simply written in such a way to capture the attention of a viewer. If he would have said "Big giveaway at the end of the video!!! $1000 of dollars in prizes!!", that would be a lie. If he would have said anything that didn't have to do with the content of the video, it would have been lying. However Cody told about how he grew up in a way that is simmilar but different to the amish. So it is a suiting title, and not a lie.

Just wanted to say thank you for the years of quality, free content. Your titles don't bother me. I think that sense of small community is something we are missing today. What a great feeling that must be to know that if you lose your job and or have severe health problems that there are people that have your back. I know people that cant even depend on their own family anymore. What a backwards world we live in. No wonder we all feel disconnected from one another and unhappy. Im 29 and feel like in some ways the generations that came before mine were happier and more satisfied in life.

I agree 100% with your perspective on click-bait titles Cody. As a content creator myself i've received some really hurtful and disrespectful messages from people. It just doesn't make sense to me... I provide free entertainment, and present no obligations that people will even watch. Yet they are more than happy try and bring you down for their own self satisfaction. Love your work though friend! :)

You are just remarkable in a positive, wonderful way. It is unfortunate that you find so many experts at everything when producing shared videos. You are a patient, loving individual that deserves many votes of confidence and many thumbs UP. Hang in there realizing some who watch your videos LOVE to complain about everything, it gives them a bit of authority. You, Mrs. W., Jack and Sweet Loaf are tremendous and your videos are appreciated. Wishing you nothing but the best, From N Idaho, USA, a long time subscriber

There is truth to this. Any close knit community will soon fall into the trap of group think and if you don't think the same way as everyone else you become an outsider. This is just human nature. Part of me wants what Cody describes but another part wants to steer far clear of it. This world has just grown beyond the close knit community needs. Anymore if you piss someone off they call CPS on you or swat you, or spread rumors and try to destroy your standing in the community. I have even seen this in mainstream Baptist churches. It is to the point where you even fear to let your kids go to someone elses sunday school class because you don't know what kind of garbage they are filling your kid's head with. People just are not all on the same page anymore. I know my neighbors and I am available and willing to lend a hand where I can, but they don't want to become part of my extended family and I really don't want to become part of theirs.

It's better to have what Cody describes than what I live among. ALL my neighbors are crypto-jew Freemasons who follow the Talmud, practice Kabbalah witchcraft and worship Lucifer. One neighbor has a 7 ft tall statue of Baphomet/Lucifer in his FRONT yard. I have NO idea where I could go that it would be any better. Oh well, I know God has some purpose for keeping me here. However, these folks are not welcomed into my home for as the bible says, 2 Corinthians 6:14, "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?"

I've never complained about titles before but the reason I dislike them is that I can never tell whether it's a vlog or what the content is about. Also if I remember a good idea from one of your videos it makes it impossible to search for a shop video when it has something to do with the weather. I used to like when you just had episodes with the name of the project and part whatever then you put them in a playlist that hasn't been done for sometime now.
