Thomas, The Galion web site shows a Special Edition (more expensive) BUT I do not yet find any information to explain -how- it is Special. Also, the web site leaves me uncertain about the tubes--88 and 120 are both mentioned here and there and so, to a novice, this makes for easy confusion! Thanks for a clarification or a video to clarify if that's more appropriate. (perhaps I am not alone?)

@@billiondollarbaby3276 Yes, known and understood. I failed to make my remark clear. After looking at the Galion preorder site for the TS120--I do not know which tube is the provided default. I also do not know what differs about the Special Edition versus the standard. Sorry for being thick.

@@WNK1955 SE has better capacitors and Wood on the sides instead of Metal. Not sure exactly what the capacitors improve upon. Kinda confused if he was going to make the base model as good as it can possibly be then why is there another model with better capacitors? So the base model obviously doesnt have the best parts as stated on countless occasions. Id be more confident if only 1 model was offered because it already has the best of everything but thats just me. Kind of like buying a Klipsch speaker....why do I have to buy Damping material like Dynamat to make it sound its best. Just charge me extra and install it in the 1st place so I dont have to go thru the hassle. Good luck on your Journey.

I am hoping that your amp is a colossal success , so much so that your next amp is pre-amp only…why, well because I can only have a headphone only hifi and I desperately want to experience this sound, but can only do so with headphones. Thomas, you deserve a tremendous success with this product because you have put so much of yourself into this, but if you do decide to go for a second product in the lineup, have a thought for us poor quiet headphone guys!

In this industry, to achieve great results you need five main attributes: 1. A great deal of patience and determination. 2. A massive amount of objectivity. 3. The ability to listen to others that might know more than you. 4. The ability to know when to stop. And lastly 5. The ability to tell the story in an engaging way. Thomas, you have them all! Subscribed and put it on my wish list...... have the Musical Fidelity Nu-Vista 600 at the moment. Am considering the TS120, as it suppose to be similar to Luxman amps, and the designer/developer of my Wharfedale Elysian 2 speakers said he had very good results with Luxman amps during the development phase.

voicing the electronics is most time consuming part of the development...of every component in the chain. cables, capacitors, plugs, transformer, volume control...every little detail in the amp makes small differences but the total of all these parts give you the sound and quality of the component. i think you put alot of work in it and its great sounding.

Congratulations on achieving your high end sound goals for Galion . So what is the main difference in sound characteristics between Galion TS 120 and Galion TS 120 SE after you have achieved your high end sound quality goals? Thank you for making so much sacrifice you have done, willingly do everything you need to do tirelessly to achieve such high end sounds you have looking for, like you have described in the video. I really appreciate it and it really helps me understand the high end sound character of my future Galion TS 120 SE . Wow! Gotta say that was incredibly worth listening to! I feel like I've been given a good class on how to voice an amplifier, and the decisions that it requires. That's a tough job. I like your thoughts on adding tone control and having two settings , because in the real world, no two listening rooms will ever sound the same, even with the exact same system. I think it is good business sense to give the customer room to play with the voicing so that he or she can find what gives them the best experience. But it still requires having a good base sound to start with, and it is obvious that you have put an incredible amount of work and thought into just that. I wish you tremendous good fortune! If I wasn't living on a fixed retirement income, I would grab one in a minute!

Yeah, we all have different systems and I was hoping the TS120 will work with as many system as possible.

you and me have the same audio philosophy. it has to sound right, not leaning towards a preference even though we have one. that is how i have been voicing my speaker brand, to sound right, not just great in a way people lean to. i have to say i have tried those clarity caps, and i realize the results may differ in the circuitry, but have you tested auricap XO series? i have tested in some amp mods and rebuilds and they seem to be more 1:1. I find the Clarity MR tend to do as you said to the midrange. of course the result may differ in your design but worth a try. it will make tube rolling more 1:1 to the natural traits of the tubes if they do the same thing. the slight colour might have adverse effects on typical tubes people like to swap to. or maybe its perfect now and no need. just love giving my own personal experience to make audio the best it can be

Great Job Thomas I know Your Amp has been alot of work rolling coupling caps doesn't look to fun I saw you had to remove the Alps volume control to get to one of the leads . And yeah Caps reshape and reform from heat and cool down . Ohh i bet the add on for rolling caps made life more easy . Thanks again

@@galionaudio9146 Good choice! After having tested over 36+ different coupling capacitors in my DYI pre-amp, I know what a frustrating ordeal capacitor rolling can be. The best coupling caps I found where Audyn True Copper Max, but they're huge and heavy, and they may not fit in typical applications.

@decoryder2 жыл бұрын
@@galionaudio9146 Yeah sorry I missed the fact that you were rolling caps. Hey - never to late for the next revision, right? Don't feel bad however - the caps are huge, and heavy - they prolly won't fit into your amp case without modification. The sound though, is the best I've heard from all the caps I tested, even though I had some difficulty using them in my preamp case. If you can, give them a try and keep them in mind for future reference. If you have Jupiter copper caps, you should get somewhat similar results; the copper foil caps do not have a 'sound', but rather they are dead neutral, and make music - particularly voices very 'life-like'. I very much look forward to hearing what more you will learn about coupling caps in the weeks and months ahead! Galion's a winner, steady-as-she-goes:)
