Hi! Thank you for the info. I wanted to know how to get exempt from the computer literacy course. I did CAT in highschool and the literacy course in my first year at wits

You can take the assessment right as you are about to complete your studies or at the beginning. You don't need to take the course. However, WSoE will need you to sit in for a short assessment on ICT in order for you to get the sign off that you've completed the PGCE and all it's requirements.

Thank your for the vedio, pls i am an international student want to start my PGCE primary. My worried is when I'm done with the PGCE programm , can I have a sch that can sponsor me with QTS.
@rewindthelesson8 ай бұрын
Hey, I’m based in South Africa and all we need to do is register with SACE. QTS is not required. However, I do know that if you are an African teacher who has secured a teaching job in the UK you will get assistance with getting QTS

@rewindthelesson Жыл бұрын
Hey, I hope you are well. Not necessarily, please watch the video on this link kzbin.info/www/bejne/fKO3qqikoc9ql68 to learn all about teaching subjects and how you select them. Apply and you will be advised accordingly in terms of subject selection once you have been accepted.

Hi, thank you so much for making this video 😊 it was really helpful, however, I’m curious about the other institutions you advised we also have a look at. I was considering WITS as it is ranked among the best globally, and thought it would be beneficial at the end of the day (especially as I’m planning to use it abroad).But which other institutions would you recommend and is it simply because of cost ?
@rewindthelesson Жыл бұрын
I will post another video advising on the other institutions to consider. Yes Wits is globally recognised, but getting the PGCE from other institutions is just as good. As I’ve seen people with a PGCE from Stadio get teaching jobs abroad. So I think that may depend on the school’s accreditation with SAQA and the country you are hoping to teach in. For instance, I know in some countries they don’t accept PGCE from Unisa. The point I was trying to bring across is that by comparing with other institutions - the tuition might be less. However, the qualification itself it was worth it.

Can I do foundation phase, if I have BA in Psychology?

Hi, I'm looking to enroll for pgce next year but I'm a bit confused about something. I'm going for senior phase & fet, so my question is when you do teaching practice do you choose if you want to be on the senior phase or fet side? Or you do both? . I'd appreciate your response😊
@rewindthelesson Жыл бұрын
Hey TT, you will do practicals for the phase you are studying for. My first practicals were for Senior Phase and the following year for FET.
@Andyman92122 күн бұрын
Quick question fam, how are the practicals conducted and if you are working full time do you need to take leave? I really appreciate any help you can provide to clarify.
@rewindthelesson20 күн бұрын
If you are already working at a school, you can use that as your prac. If you are working else where, you would have to apply for leave with your employer. In my case, my prac was in 2019 at a school and I explained to the school principal that I only had a certain number of days I could complete my prac in, and in 2020 the practicals were online (making it even easier for me) So just communicate with those involved (affected), mainly your employer, the principal of the school where you are doing your practicals. So you can workout an arrangement that will work for all of you. all the best
@Andyman92120 күн бұрын
@rewindthelesson Thank you plenty, sorry one last question please. How long does it take to complete the said practical? Maybe days or weeks perhaps ?
@rewindthelesson18 күн бұрын
@@Andyman921 Hey this will depend on the institution and the program you are on PGCE OR BEd and whether you are on full-time or part-time studies. However, click on this link for PGCE practicals breakdown on page 2 www.wits.ac.za/media/wits-university/faculties-and-schools/humanities/wits-school-of-education/documents/PGCE-full-time.pdf In summary it's about 3 months in total for a full-time PGCE. Remember you can also email the course coordinators to get clarity on this so you can make an informed decision.

This is very informative. Is the fees price once off for 2 years (part time) or you pay the same amount of fees per year (2 years) ?
@rewindthelesson2 ай бұрын
@@Kgaree Hey, thanks for watching. Yes, the last time I checked they are the same
@Kgaree2 ай бұрын
@@rewindthelesson hi I feel like you didn’t understand my question. PGCE part time is 2 years and my question is that, let’s say the fees payment is 47k, is it once off for that period of 2 years or you pay the 47k per year (year 1 and year 2)
@rewindthelesson2 ай бұрын
@@Kgaree I understood it, I suppose my response is not clear. If the fees for the Pgce are 45k (that’s the cost irrespective of whether you complete the course full-time or part-time). In terms of payment options it’s depends on your affordability if you can pay the 45k all at once great. You can also pay monthly depending on your length of the course e.g if part-time 45k/24 months or 45K/12 months for full-time. Bare in mind wits has that registration fee of about 9k-10k before you start with the course Which is inclusive of the 45k meaning if you pay the 9k at the beginning of the year you will then owe around 35K. So the 45k is for the Pgce course irrespective of the duration you choose to complete it. Essentially the course cost is not broken into years, but rather one cost for the entire course unless you fail some modules then you might incur extra costs I hope this provides better clarity

Hello there, You will not need a TEFL if you have a BEd or PGCE qualification. However, sometimes you find that the country you are applying to teach in does not recognise your qualification. Just make sure you get your qualifications from an accredited institution. Have a good day further, 🙏🏽

You would need support from your employer and the school you choose. Use your study leave days. Some days I did two hours at the school and went back to work. Find a flexible school to work with. Its a tricky one
