Hey guys and dolls!
In this video, I share information on the PGCE in South Africa. I hope you learn something new, and that you can recommend it to other people.
With such a high unemployment rate in SA, teaching is a profession we should all be considering.
Love and light
Reholile ❤

So informationative thank you. I have two questions 1: For your practical, do you receive a stipend? 2: Job security, do you get placed after graduating or you still seek for employment?
@Reholile
@Reholile 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jessica, 1. I think that depends on the school, some schools may want to give you something but in most cases no. 2. You have to look for a job, nobody places you.

What's a better option? Learning while teaching right?

I think studying full time is great so that you can finish your studies quicker, however if you already have a teaching job but want to get a teaching qualification then you ca study part time while working.

Since well it's October now it's not wise for one to apply now 👀?Is funding one of reasons why one shouldn't apply this late ?
@Reholile
@Reholile 2 жыл бұрын
Most Universities closed applications for study on the 30th of September. It’s wise to apply early because of space (some Universities accept people on a first come basis, and for funding purposes, there aren’t many funding opportunities at this time of the year)

Hello.. What do you mean university allowing you to do 2 methods? And which of the universities are those that provide you that?
@Reholile
@Reholile 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Lindo, all Universities will allow you to do two methods, like you’ll choose 2 subjects to specialize in. However, I know people who were only allowed to do one subject at UP because the university wasn’t satisfied with their undergraduate subjects, or they didn’t recognize their subjects.

It depends on whether you’re studying full time or part time. But if you were looking at unisa, maybe look at Embury. They have PGCE too, and it’s distance learning.

Hi, please note that : Unisa phased out PGCE Foundation Phase only. But they still offer PGCE senior phase and FET. Applications are open now, do submit your application with them, if you are still keen. 🙏🏾

@Reholile
@Reholile 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Philisiwe, there are Educational institutions that accept people with diplomas. Just look on their websites for which diplomas they accept, usually it has to be something specific like a Diploma in Maths. Look on their websites and send emails to enquire, some Universities will say you should send your diploma and transcript so they can check if you qualify

Can we do PGCE in SA for being lecturer? Like are we eligible for M.ed and Ph.d after PGCE?
@Reholile
@Reholile 3 жыл бұрын
Yes you can, however a PGCE is equivalent to a B.Ed, so you would have to get your honours degree in education before moving on to the M.Ed and eventually a PhD. Most Universities want you to have a Masters degree to lecture, in some fields they accept lecturers who are in the process of getting their Masters degree, but have an honours degree.
