My Experience, Response, Review with Seroquel (Quetiapine), An Atypical Antipsychotic

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it really helped making my decision to contact back my psychiatrist about how concerned I am to start the anti psychotic they prescribed to me. Side effects from anti depressants caused me immense trouble: I felt like a husk in my body, I could not feel emotions not even perceive the love from my family, weight gain, I couldn't stand up like everybody does, I stayed home for 2 months without going out even once. I don't want another medication to gamble with and deal with the consequences of it even months later of stopping it. I really hope there's a way out this hell, it feels like even healing hurts, thank you though for making this video, makes me feel way less alone in this fight.

hey so sorry about your experience. Yes in the beginning years it is extremely comfortable to be on the antipsychotics. But when you been on it so long you will notice that the side effects do fade away. However, if you can get buy without them that is the best case scenario if not there are more newer drugs other than seroquel that you may try like latuda, vraylar, caplyta or lybalvi that may have less side effects. Also starting at the lowest dose possible may be best to start at if necessary. The flat effect can be really annoying.

I really appreciate this video. It was the very first AP I ever took (from 2012-2016). I stayed on it so long because no doctors ever told me about any other AP's until I moved to Seattle, Washington which offers much better psychiatric srrvices. It did its job yes but the side effects were awful. Yes I was sedated, yes I had akathesia, but worse was what it was doing to my liver. Finally after years of horrible lab results my promary care finally said Hey his liver is effed up from Seroquel/Quetiapine, lets get the shrink to try something else instead, so we finally did that. I'm so glad I spent 4 years in the mental health system in Seattle where I got real help and learned about all kinds of different medications.

hey bro so sorry for what happened. akathesia was the worst side effect that most people especially psychiatrist look over. To be honest, I wanted to kill myself when I was on abilify cause the akathesia was the worst for this along with invega. If you are at a dire state and need to be on an antipsychotic there are newer drugs like vraylar, latuda, lybalvi and caplyta that will have less side effects. I hope you find the right psychiatrist, always be honest and if they cannot listen to you then you need to find a different one. I have had bipolar disroder for 15 years and had my round of psychiatrist but I did find the right one for 9 years now. Good luck.

@@BeyondBipolarBlog I had akathesia too. For me the best one is Rexulti (Brexpiprazole). I agree with AP's newer is better.

it just caused too much weight gain, unfortunately i am heavy right now too but i gotta cut the losses.

I took seroquel 100mg in 2005. First nite i hardly breathed. Stuffy nose. Fast heartbeat. Sedated I was on it till 2016 Till my cardiologist checked my ecg n noticed i got cardiomyopathy from it My psychiatrist then stopped it

ah sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling better right now. Seroquel is a pretty old drug, there are many new antipsychotics like latuda, vraylar, caplyta, lybalvi. Whether you need one or not, I hope you are doing well.

I was on Seroquel for 6 years, I used it to sleep, which is a very bad idea. It gives me heart arrhythmia and massive gain weight and some memory loss. It's really bad for me, I'm slowly getting off Seroquel. Stay away from it.

seroquel was good for a prn for awhile but caused weight gain for me. I hope you found an alternative. If not I hope you do find something that works for you.

I haven't heard of them, I gotta research them to see what they are about, are they related to any previous drugs. I am on lybalvi and I know its a hybrid of xyprexa, invega is a hybrid of risperdal - which risperdal and invega was no good caused too much akathesia for me.

im not sure if its a good idea to just use it for sleep without having it as a mental health problem. This drug is usually specifically used for major depression or bipolar or even schizophrenia. There are other drugs like lunesta that are sleep medication
