Thanks for posting this video. I’ve had my 110+ since 1978. It’s been a work knife, paint scraper, and all round tool. The original blade was shot. I saw this video and sent it to Buck. It came back with a new blade and like new. I can tell it’s my same knife by the small indentations in the wood from my abusive use. They give it character. Buck has the best warranty. Period.

Idk what said but 3 weeks later I got my knife back, and yes it was the same knife, with a brand new blade. If I had not called/emailed them, I’m sure they never would have contacted me again. I inherited a few things from my father; firearms, his desk, his pen, and more. Notoriously missing was his Buck 110. I was born in 1966 and he had that knife as long as I can remember, and he carried it and used it. I wish I had it. It has been damaged and sharpened so many times, it definitely needed a blade replacement. There is one old man a Buck that does that work. There is at least one KZbin video about him. Your video was a bit emotional for me. Thank you. I am glad you appreciate that knife and hope you enjoy it. Please use it.

It's a really nice repair on your knife. I bought a 110 at a garage sale for a buck. It was in real good shape, except someone had drilled a hole in the bolster and damaged the spring. The blade would not lock. I sent it in thinking they would find some reason to reject the repair, but they replaced the spring, cleaned, and polished, looked like new ex cept for the drilled hole. Seven bucks for the cleaning, glad to pay. Good company, great service.

Hi TK, I thought I'd give you a recap of my own recent experience (2024), with a Buck 110 that I sent back to Buck for some warranty repair work. Specifically, I mailed my 110 off to Buck on January 22nd and received it back from Buck just yesterday, February 10th. This represents a turnaround by Buck of just 19 days! Granted, my knife needed a lot less of a makeover than your knife. However, I want to echo your comments and experience from a year ago. You didn't really save much, but you experienced a great warranty spa treatment, as some are calling it. Your knife has a better story of why it's nice looking. I bought a Buck 110 LT that has the nylon handles, and it was a clearance item at under $12.00 I just got the more expensive full priced brass and ebony classic 110 model. I think I'll take it easy on the ebony handled model and be more abusive to the nylon model. Both came sharp as can be out of the package as new. Collecting knives is addictive, but I'm not into the ultra expensive stuff or the garbage sold in groups of 50. My oldest is a Robert Plumb farriers knife from the early 1800s.

Zippo's warranty is like this too. When I was 8 I found a broken early 60s sterling silver zippo lighter at a junk sale. It was tarnished jet black so it was impossible to tell what era/material it was at the time, so I paid only 25 cents for it. As I grew up I managed to hold onto that thing and eventually figured out the background and that Zippo has a free forever repair warranty on their lighters. A couple years ago when I was 25 I finally sent it in. Came back a few weeks later good as new! They fixed the decimated hinge, and completely replaced the inner mechanism, which was itself an off brand one that had been put in god knows when. Worth $60-100 now.

In the Navy, the Buck 110 was a very standard knife because stands up very well against salt water. I also never was nice to my 110. After 5 years left that ship, 2 years later, I need help finding my knife. 2nd 110 had her for 5 years on my 2nd ship. When I left, the Antetam idea hit me. I would keep my 110 safes dropped in my shaving kit and forget about it. 3 years later, going to my 3rd ship, getting on the plane, my carry-on in the scanner beep beep beep (bet you would never guess what I did not pull out of my shaving kit). I got to take my 110 on the plane because I was in my Dress Blues, and I was ok to have a 3 knife with me. That was in 1999. I wonder what my 110 would have done against the box-knives the highjackers were using.

That is about what I would expect from Buck. My Buck knives all arrived perfect and stayed perfect, so I have never had to take them up on their warranty. The only occasion I have had to use any knife company warranty service was in the middle of the pandemic when my EDC Gerber folding knife literally fell apart in my pocket. It wasn't a cheap knife, so I was not happy. After months of emailing, sending photos and general hassle, they did replace it. Wow! They did great. I love Buck knives. To me, they are above Case knives in terms of America's brand. Their quality control is much better to. I love my Case knives, but Buck is above Case in my book. Glad it turned out well for you!

You sent this out a week before Thanksgiving and a month before Christmas, when many people are out on vacation. I am surprised it didn't take longer than it did.

I thought it was reasonable given the timing. Thanks, Happy.

For some reason, i feel you're pretty cool for getting such a knife and paying that kind of price and supporting people. idk. Ultimately, your experiences and your heart mean MUCH more than shrewd dealing with money here and there. Sometimes the headaches of price hunting and stuff like that aren't worth it. Unless you're dealing with some kind of long term business situation that can see exponential differences in cash flow, it's a cooler journey to simply explore experiences in the path of life and let the relatively smaller soulless concerns go.

Over the years I have had several Bucks and they all worked fine right out of the package and kept on working until I lost them or abused them. That sort of reliability is more important to me than a long warranty.
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
Sure, I agree. Good to know though if something goes wrong they will take care of you. Thanks Murray.

I love Buck the company and their knives. I don’t mean to sound like I’m slamming them, but the forever warranty has become a double-edge blade. One one side, they will fix it at anytime, forever during its life. The other side it takes forever to get it back. It used to be 4-6 weeks, but it’s now double that time frame. I’m at 12 weeks and still have yet to hear it’s repaired and shipped.

Expect 3 months or more. Thanks Wolf.

I sent in four knives and my experience was similar, but I sent a check with my form. Two re-blades and two SPA treatments. Well worth the wait and money. I’d send more into BKI with no concerns.
Thanks for the comments and link. Some very nice works done to those. Fantastic Dan, I appreciate you sharing.

I would like to know the economics of the deal. $40.00 plus $X.00? VS. cost of a new knife? Would help me decide to buy a used knife I found.
@ThriftyKaniffy10 ай бұрын
No need to consider what I paid, only what you will pay. You're looking at around 17 dollars to get them the knife and pay for the spa treatment with replacement blade. A new Buck 110 is in the neighborhood of 65 dollars before tax. Thanks Blackbird.

I have a 110 I got it from my father and the pin fell out. Do you think they'll fix or replace the whole knife? Thank you kindly.
@ThriftyKaniffy2 жыл бұрын
They'll do whatever's required, if it's fixable I imagine they will. Thanks William.

It’s amazing that any knife company does this. My only experience with Buck’s warranty was less satisfying. I carried for several years a small Buck lock back that had wood handles and stainless bolsters. It was never abused, but one day when I pulled it out of my pocket, I discovered the back spring was broken. I had only used it for light office duties, so I never understood why the spring broke. Regardless, when I shipped it to Buck, they sent back to me an entirely different, cheaper looking model (a small stockman with plastic scales). There was no explanation offered about why my knife was not repaired or replaced with an identical model. I figured it was a discontinued model, but that experience left me disappointed. I’m glad that your experience was outstanding.

Yes they don't mind that it's second hand, kinda what the whole generational warranty is all about. Thanks, Jeremy.

They did a great job. I bought my 110 at the Ft Eustis PX it was about 2013. It was sitting there with a clearance sticker $26. I was like wait what? Nylon sheath though not leather. About the same year I was in Kmart (they still sold knives then) and there was my 119 with a clearance sticker $30. No brainers.

In 1985, at the NRA annual meeting & convention in Seattle, I met a young Chuck Buck. I mentioned that my much used Stockman pocket knife had taken some damage. He asked for it and my address. I handed it to him. A short time later, I received in the mail what appeared to be a new knife, except for the LD “brand” I’d engraved on one scale. Their service is the Real Deal.👍
