It's pretty sad that people have the audacity to say things like you didn't deserve the place, as you mentioned in the video. I don't think people realise how privileged private school students are.

what would happen if you failed the essay/assignment tho?

Then you just don’t get the offer. You can still apply through ucas as usual etc and you won’t be affected, but you won’t automatically get a lower, guaranteed offer xx
