i work at sephora. its not a perfect company by any means but i do LOVE that they encourage our individuality, or at least at my location. we have girls who work there with crazy hair, tattoos, sickening beats, boys who work there come in full drag face, crazy lashes and theyre never told to change their appearance. :)

Girl hunty I know how you feel!! I applied at MAC and the management there was really just one mind! They didn't want anyone to be themselves! I went to an interview with my face beat to show off my talent and skills and they told me my makeup was too much that I should have toned it down! It wasn't like I was going to a party with vibrant colors I was just a soft glam and highlighted to the makeup Gods! That's all!! I so so disappointed and confused! I cried cause I didn't get a call back! I didn't even get to show them what I could do on someone else! 😢 but love you two!! 💜💜💜💜💋💋💋💋⚜️ I'm so glad that it wasn't just me!!

Chandra Conway YES! I work at a department store and the make up counters have all old ladies. Drunk busted booger the house old ladies. Mascara running, eyeliner down to their nose, harsh blush etc. They won’t put me over there because of numbers and sales they can only have 2 people per counter yet I’m the one who comes to work full beat full evening gown. I could sell the damn make up. I could be the face of the products. I’m always getting asked what make up I wear. So I bounce around departments bitter the house going through the gigs. 😂 It’s really opened my eyes that it’s not about the artistry it’s about the numbers. And it’s comforting that I’m not the only one with these frustrations. It’s a whole CAMUNTITY of us getting played with when we’re the ones who are most qualified.

I feel the same about my job. I work in a department store and I want to be moved over to cosmetics, honey and my manager’s daughter got the position I wanted. The ladies over there are older (no tea no shade) and don’t really appeal to the younger demographic and their skills are busted booger the house! Meanwhile I’m sitting over in the home department bitter the house going through the gigs. My managers are the same as Miss “Luchuchus” managers at MAC honey. They are rude. All they care about are sales and not who their employees are and how good they are with customers. It’s all about the numbers.

I'd go to a gay man with a sickening beat way before I'd go to some of theose stuck up girls with the cake face. Girl I had the worst experience working for them as well. They told me I was wearing too much makeup and people were claiming I was stealing their sales. They tried to sabotage me tha house. The last day I worked there I left crying. I feel like it was just the people I worked with. I still love the brand and their image but it left a bad taste in my mouth.

I was an MUA in the late 90s and MAC was the ultimate goal. I worked for other lines and learned a great deal from each of them. They all have their own technique. I never got to work for MAC, unfortunately. But overall, it was a wonderful experience for me.
