Honestly I have shadows that are over 10 years old and as long as there is no sign of “spoilage” and they are not hard panned, I still use them and in my 50 years of wearing makeup have never had a problem. Also, I almost always draw from two palettes to create looks. On that Venus palette that hard panned you could de-pot those beautiful shimmers that are good and put them in a Z palette.

I am happy to see the second part of your eyeshadow collection. Btw I used to not like dipping into a second palette for a transition shades, but at some I decided to have on my vanity the Tarte Clay Play Face palette, the original one, and use it as a companion palette. I used that palette all the time now. Recently I added the Kat Von D palette light and shade (or shade and light) and sometimes I use the Lorac 1,2,3 for transition colors.

Hi Jen! Declutter videos are so satisfying. While I don't have a large collection, these videos have reminded me to toss what's way too old and rotate what I have more often. U can still use the bronzer of the day as a transition shade, if the palette is missing one 👀 it also puts the face together in a nice way 😘

2 options if a palette doesn't have a transition shade: 1. (my preference) - Keep a small zpalette of all your must have's...transition, fave outer corner shade, inner corner, go-to lid shimmer etc. It can even have a warm and cool option for each. Keep it right up on your vanity all the time. Then you know if a palette you're trying is missing something, you've got your faves. 2. Use a bronzer or blush that you're already using in this look as a transition. It's easy and your look will be cohesive.

Marvelous Mauves is one of my only other few high end palettes (or any palettes for that matter) and I love it! (We've talked about that 😂) It's matte and perfect and flattering. I also don't think shadow needs to be tossed that quickly. Mascara, yeah, but shadow I think if they perform well then it's ok. 🤷‍♀️ just my opinion though.

I went from stealing my moms Wet N Wild palettes back in the day and wearing her colors to now buying some of my own (Dominique Cosmetics, Kylie (regrets), Too Faced, etc.) I have about around like 4-5 higher end and am looking to expand my higher end because your girl still can’t blend! I recommend Colourpop i know it's not high end. LIKE I can't blend for my life. I live by their super shocks one and done. I also have 1 NATASHA DENONA palette GOLD I can't blend it swatches like a dream one and done on the lid. Also I'm tan leaning more brown I have 1 Anastasia palette the Jackie Aina one. Amazing. I have hooded eyes don't know if that helps you but good luck

Wow I forgot about that L.A. Splash palette. The colors and pigmentation are a dream. That will be my next buy. I also regret not buying the Persona Identity palette when it was on sale at Ulta a long time ago, I had herd nothing about the brand around that time. You and Andrea Matillano love it, unfortunately Ulta does not carry the Identity 1 only the Identity 2. 😑.

I think if you simply put a piece of scotch tape over any shadow formula in its pan and just pull it off, it brings that shade back to life.

It’ll be the only pallet I purchase from her for that price! For the shades that went hard pan you could try scraping them off then only using them with brushes. Finger swatching presses them in and can leave behind oils so might cause that for shadows with a bad formula.

Thanks for describing what shadows might work for more textured eyes. At almost 50, I need to be a little pickier about formula and the amount of sparkle if I want my eye makeup to enhance my looks rather than draw attention to the aging going on. You mentioned the Doll 10 (which sounds perfect for me!) and, I think, the Persona palette. What other formulas would you recommend? And thanks for doing this! I know it must take a lot of time and be tiring, but I really enjoy seeing the color stories and hearing your experience with the formulas!

If you pack the sequin shades from the tati pallet on your lid or outer corner with your finger the glitter shows up. Just a tip

Yes! It's just that I don't often pack matte shadows on that way, mostly because they aren't creamy like shimmers and they fall down my face over time if they're not blended out with a brush. 😊♥️

Several people I watch said that if you get hard pan, a way to fix it is press scotch tape into the pan several times and it'll come up.

Maybe it will help for those all shimmer or bright colors palettes to buy or de-pot couple of transition/crease shades you prefer to use, and place them into small magnetic palette? Makeup Forever has tiny one with clear lid, for example. I have one of those with 2 inglot eyeshadows in it, one for setting eyeshadow primer and one neutral for blending.

I have a mac palette that immediately got hard pan, I love the colours so I scrape away the surface and it is usable. Its dissapointing that your new venus palette got hard pan so soon after buying it but I think you'll be able to get pigment out of it after you scrape

The Venus Immortalis one does get hard pan but it doesn’t affect how the eyeshadow works on the eyes with a brush, it still pucks up just not with a finger

Hard pan is caused by oils on your fingers or brushes normally but the easiest way to fix it is to use scotch tape. It'll take off the harpan and not damage any of the shadow. I've had no issues with my Venus immortalis, but I have with my Venus xl 2, but a little scotch tape fixed it right up

I love Zoeva palettes and my favourite is The Basic Moment Eyeshadow palette. Its a really great muted neutral palette for fair skin with a great layout - a row of matte and row of shimmers. It doesnt seem to get a lot of love on you tube.

It’s crazy how different our eyeshadow preferences are! I almost never just use one palette, lean towards neutral or warm eyeshadows, and prefer palettes that have more colorful shades in them.

You often mention you don’t reach for palettes without mattes or transition shades that suit you. Have you tried making the “perfect” palette? Not a big custom palette but a palette that may only have four or six shades that are perfect for your skintone. Mine is an abh four pan custom. Its very freeing, I now look at all my palettes differently, I look at a palette as a grouping of singles. Its surprising to see how much you start reaching for unused palettes. I think it works because it takes out some of the day to day decision making.

For the hard pan use tape. Press on the top remove and repeat a few times. It works perfectly without removing good eyeshadow. The Kyle naughty and nice Palettes were actually dupe by Face Candy not Bad habit. The only dupe I can think of for ND Star palette was Bad Habit Divine which obviously you can’t get anymore.

Tip for the Tati Beauty palette and for colourpop too for the sequin/microglitter shadows: you're supposed to use a finger to pack on the lid to get the little glitters to show up so it doesn't look like another matte shadow! :D

I remember her saying that but I rarely pack on matte shadows like that. I have very hooded eyes and I find that if I don't blend matte shadows really well they transfer. But shimmers don't do that as much because they seem to stick to the eyes better. I guess it's just a personal preference thing! 😊♥️

Webb Family Lol, every time someone declutters the Winky Lux Kitten palette my heart skips a beat. It’s the best palette I ever got in Boxycharm when I was subscribed. There is a GORGEOUS blue/green/pink duochrome, and all the shades work great. I never liked the teal shade in there, but one day I accidentally mixed it with the maroon and it made a beautiful plum color. I think a lot of people didn’t give it a real chance cause we get so many random palettes in Boxy charm, and of course everyone has their own style and has so many palettes. But I just adore that palette. I’ve almost hit pan on the duochrome shade, which will be my first time ever with a shimmer, and I don’t think they have singles. I’d never ask someone for their palettes, but sometimes I think, “Everyone just send me the duochrome!” Glass Bull from Colourpop is a dupe, but the Winky Lux one has more reflect, shows up better on the eyes, and is just so much more creamy. I hope wherever it goes from Jens collection the new owner has as much fun with it as I have! 💜 Melissa (my kids taken over my username 🤦‍♀️😂)

Love these! I’d love to see a look with the Stila palette & hear your thoughts plus see swatches. It’s gorgeous looking. The zoeva Naturally Yours is another one I’d love to see you feature. I have & love the bareMinerals Rose palette. I really love the mattes in there. The upper right & 2 bottom shades. The satiny shades in the middle I struggle with getting them to show up. I need to use my finger or spray fix plus which I hate doing that in case I wreck them. Jen help me out, if I keep plopping my finger in will it destroy the shadows quickly? The white upper left is very bright white. I’m pale but it’s almost too white. I’d love to hear your thoughts on how best to use these 3 more difficult shades. Plus I’d love to see the others swatched because the 3 mattes in the Rose palette are just so good I’ve been looking at the Neutral one.

I LOVE the Huda warm browns.. I love that it's mostly matte. I really want the nude obsessions too. Smaller palettes are not as intimidating as the big ones. I don't think I've got any bigger palettes left in my collection. I'd keep the Winky Lux palette just because it smells like coffee ♥️♥️♥️😂😂😂

It's disappointing that for 129$ the natasha denona palettes perfom this way.. Even leaking.. So sad!

Yes that was very strange! I don't know if maybe the plastic sheet makes the problem worse? Because the shadows can't breathe/evaporate? 🤔🤔🤔

@@JenPhelps i don't know either, I've always thought they're there to protect the shadows themselves but they could be making it worse 🤷‍♀️
