I’ve been working on cleaning out a lot of my products I’ve never used or MAYBE used once and am donating them to the local women’s shelter. They need to feel pretty too. It can go along way for someone’s morale.

Which color lip oil are you wearing in this video? It is very pretty and you look great.

At this point the only things I buy are the foundations and mascaras that I go through frequently. My eyeshadows and blushes last forever, and I’ll rarely discard them.

it don't help when brands prey on FOMO (fear of missing out) by doing *Limited Edition* * cough cough * the naked palette by Urban Decay * cough cough * . I missed out on the first release because I was broke so I bought it just to have it and........I *HATE* it!!! I wanted *SOOOOO* bad to love it because I love dark makeup but the formula isn't what I would expect from UD and I'm just disappointed; both in the product, the brand, and myself. They hyped it up to be so good and it was mediocre at best 🤷🏽♀

I completely agree with not having a staple makeup routine. I remember panning the one blush, one bronzer, and my OG naked palette. Now I feel like it’s stressful making sure that the different new makeup I buy won’t clash.

If you haven’t tried the Persona pencil sharpener yet, it’s incredible! I’d say it’s the best sharpener that I’ve ever used!

What an original topic. I love your analysis of this aspect of beauty culture. A very well-organized, fair, and eye-opening video 😊😊

I agree that even if you're here to inform/review about makeup, you don't need to buy everything you review. I personally would appreciate "news" about what's new, pictures of them would suffice.; the color schemes, the claims, and your initial feel about them. You can even go to stores to try out their samples. And then you just buy the most outstanding ones that you like & how it wears.

Over consumption is so real… I’m always looking for more things but have alot I could be using it’s hard cause that is what the focus is. Less techniques and more about buying the product but it doesn’t end there…

I enjoy all of it- first impressions, seeing a trendy look with existing products, a deep dive of a palette showing multiple looks. It’s probably a balance of doing content requested by your loyal audience and chasing the preference of the algorithm. I think you’re doing a great job!

Everyone looks the same reminds of the novel "Uglies", it has the concept where everyone gets surgery to become 'perfect' at 16th birthday. I do not like looking the same, but I do understand wanting to look like classmates or look relatable, not a ditto copy twin. Also, I agree that influencers should be honest if they have lash extensions and then review a mascara without having those lash extensions. It defeats the purpose of pushing a mascara for its abilities if you are wearing lash extensions or falsies to begin with ....

I started watching beauty YT in 2012 with channels like Lisa Eldridge or the Pixiwoo sisters, who as muas focused on tutorials rather than specific products. This side of beauty YT with the regular weekly launch reviews, specific product videos, multiple eye-looks etc. was completely unknown to me until the end of 2020, when mask-wearing made me start moving more towards eye-heavy looks. Even though I think there is also a certain level of playfulness and creativity in having a wider selection of palettes to choose from, which I enjoyed a lot in the first year of my palette-obsession, I needed to find a balance so that it wouldn't become overwhelming rather than fun. Plus it's really great to get the most out of your makeup! 💛💙💜

Omg I've been thinking about this concept too - I like learning new techniques for makeup or different color combos - but nowadays videos are all about new stuff and advertising

I love what you said about how people always search for what's new and they forget to appreciate what they already have. That's how I feel about the music industry. People forget how amazing old music is and they view it as a bad thing to listen to it. But I think that more people need to appreciate old music.

I favor KZbinrs who are not sponsored. Your channel and MaryEllenAfter60 are informative and honest because you do not sell your souls to sponsorships.

so the videos on new makeup probs don't get that much views because you're not the only one making a video on these products and also they might not even watch the video , but go straight to the links to buy the product - as they probably know how to use it

I enjoy new product videos. They’re fun and I kind of feel like I’m living vicariously through the influencer. But I miss the tutorials and the “get ready with me” videos. I would love some fall tutorials or new makeup trend tutorials! I enjoy all your videos Jen. Keep em coming ❤

I spent close to $10,000 aus on make up and skincare last year. It's insane. For the last 8 years I have an addiction. Also I worked for Clarins the French prestige skincare and make-up range. The over consumption of palettes is my worst. I do prestige, I have all the Natasha denona palettes. My main serum is Advanced Night Repair and Clarins Double Serum.

This video was very enjoyable. The Beachwalk Betty bronzer looks very similar to the crystal slipper blush. What would be the difference? The color, or the amount of luminosity? I don’t want to buy both.

I love this and I couldn't agree more. I think I was feeling this way the whole time I followed you. I was never into buying too much. I just liked you and your content. I'm saying this just to say that even though I wasn't a major buyer, I still liked watching your videos. I have bought a few things because I trusted your recommendations though. And even that was a huge deal for me because I hardly bought from influence before but I liked the things I've gotten from you. That and I love how you have drugstore reviews. Personally I think reviews help us to consume responsibly. Especially when we can trust they're honest. I think often I'm more critical of products and like them less than you do, but I still like hearing a trusted opinion.

Hi Jen, new Australian subscriber right here! stumbled across your videos and hit subscribe straight away!! finally someone reviewing real girls products without sponsorships and who always look for drugstore gems. I’m here for it. Wondering if you get Mco beauty over there? It’s big in Australia as a huge dupe brand - but sadly slowly increasing in price as they get more popular. Anyway if yo do get it there, love your thoughts on the best in the bunch 😉

Thank you so much for taking the time to do this informational video. I've been a Subscriber for a bit and you never disappoint. Who else would say that part of their youthful looks are contributed to by good genes? As a mature, retired woman w/good skin I still got caught up in all the hype, not only the mup, but the brushes! I bought the entire Scott Barnes collection because it was a better deal than buying them individually (most of which, to date I've never used). Same thing w/Rephr...probably own most of the brushes they've ever made and only use a few. Again, because the Influencer said that's the brush they used to achieve a certain look.
