Planning out your makeup looks, enhancing the colours and brightening up your image is perfectly fine but I don’t think getting rid of your natural beauty lines and wrinkles is a good thing to advertise to anyone. Do we really need a whole generation of people growing up to be insecure about how they naturally look outside of photos? I get that you’re a public figure and your ‘looks’ are held to a higher expectation, but it just doesn’t sit right with me to advertise how easy it is to trick people into thinking you’re this perfect version of yourself.

Same. I’ve struggled with body dysmorphia too. It first starts off with one or two “harmless” little tweaks and before you know it you stop letting other people take pictures of you because you can’t edit them yourself. Suddenly I depended on it and it got worse to the point that I hated the way I looked in real life and begged my mom for surgery, bought tons of makeup all because I got upset about how i couldn’t look like my edited images irl. Nikkie is making this seem so harmless and creative when it’s not, she maybe using it on her makeup but I’m sure we all know people aren’t solely going to use this to make your makeup look better. It’s setting and enforcing dangerous standards to young children and I was a victim to it. I was so shocked when she talked about how the blur tool could “make your skin look like skin which is you know... smooth” absolutely not!

This is very disappointing, Nikkie. For me, you were the one that taught us about loving ourselves the way we are and that make-up is just fun, art and art way we can express our emotions. And now, you are promoting something that creates so many insecurities and tricks other people to think there is some real perfection they'll never be able to reach. It is so dangerous that everyone is trying to look like having perfect skin, perfect look, perfect relationships and perfect life. Having the need to hide every imperfection in our life is something that can be really damaging. It might look like FaceTune2 is just some innocent app to play with, but it really isn't. No app like that nor people who are using it are innocent. Enjoy your perfected pictures. :-( But at least you are open about it and not pretending that you were born that perfect without face tuning.

@@IamRocque It doesn’t matter if most influencers use Facetune, it may not be common knowledge to a her younger audience. Also for instance, we all know that celebrities get enhancements done but it won’t be right to promote plastic surgery. Sure you can give information about it and disclose anything anyone has had done but promoting it gives a wrong message. Even if she is promoting this for artistic use it’s pretty obvious that majority of her viewers aren’t content creators or post their makeup looks online to use these tools the way she has demonstrated. Reality is that Facetune is known to be used to modify your face and body .She didn’t promote this the right way even if she really had to which I don’t think was necessary in the first place. As the person above mentioned, she should’ve at least included a disclaimer. In general everybody in this comment section is like "that's unhealthy, shouldn't be supported etc" but she just make the best out of her pictures. Sometimes you look way different on a photo than in real life and adjusting that is totally fine imo. It’s really a shame that you feel the need to facetune your face and body. We need to turn the tide towards appreciating our flaws and those things that not only make us different but also real people. Body shaming partially stems from this idea of being perfect - none of us are and that is ok.

Yup. There needs to be more people in the beauty industry that just embrace the way they naturally look, skin texture et al.

Same. I was seriously considering blepharoplasty recently and then I thought NO! I’m not going to cut off bits of my eyelids to look like an instagirl.

I got rid of all social media, I noticed how it consumed my time and how I hated my appearance, I would have so much stress cause I couldn’t get my makeup right. It sounds so silly but it really affected my mental health for years lol

@@Urza. I did the same thing! My mental health inclined immediatley when I deleted all my socials a few years ago! Go you!!! Xoxo

Every time I saw your beautiful selfies in instagram I asked my self why my skin didn’t looked so perfect after the makeup like yours did but I just thought that it’s cause you’re a super amazing makeup artist, and you are, and I didn’t knew how to prep my skin so flawlessly but seeing this picture without any photoshopping in the beginning made me realize that your skin texture looks exactly like mine in real life, this made me both happy and sad at the same time, those apps make us create unrealistic expectations based on others. Glad that they caught your robbers and I hope your feeling a little bit safer, lots of love ❤️

I'm so glad I'm not the only one not feeling this video😶 this is terrifying that Nikkie is promoting this to her young viewers and kinda makes me not want to watch her videos anymore😬

I know right? It's kind of terrifying how we normalise it.

we need content like this. exposing, and showing how people edit their photos. not DISSING people for it, but just stating that its a fact it happens, how its done, WHY people do it, and it sheds a light on not taking every photo at face value and just thinking about how it shows no one is perfect. it can show little girls the TRUTH about media, and not to believe 'this is how women look' because those women are edited. good onya nikkie for approaching it with a positive take and not presenting as something terrible or scary.
