She wasn't told about the family was going on holiday, and then was told she was watching kids. The only ones to blame here are the family for not telling her. Just because it's family they assume she'll watch the kids. It doesn't work like that. They seem kind of entitled.

Wife had a coworker that was in a bind (so she said) and needed my wife to watch her 3 kids. For no more than a hour. She had to take a quick trip to her sisters in the next town over and would be quicker without the kids. I told the wife...Really, only an hour? Well, 4 hours later I was pissed, no phone call whatsoever. Kids were hungry and we weren't set up to feed anyone. It was the weekend and our shopping day. We only had a half dozen donuts left over from the morning. They ate them up. They were also wondering where there mom was? Kids were 5, 7 and 9. So, I said F this and told the kids that we just got a call from their mom and she has been out making plans for a vacation to Disneyland and she was picking up McDonald's for you guys and would be here in a while. About an hour and a half, after I talked to the kids, mom returned, More than half drunk (wife called cops and they were waiting outside) I laid into her harshly. My wife laid into her worse and I would rather be on the devils bad side than deal with the wrath that the kids gave her after she was 5ish hours late, No mickey D's and No Disneyland. About a half hour after she got here, she left. The cops where waiting outside and pulled here over within a 100 feet. Drunk driving and kids were taken by the father. They were divorced. He was a much better parent and got full custody of the kids. Dad actually took them to Disneyland later that year. We never heard a word from her again. The wife said she never showed back up to work and never got her last check. Good Riddance.

When my sister had her son she would show up at my house to visit my mom and my grandma and AUTOMATICALLY expected me to babysit for her for free without saying a single word. I flat out told her that just because she got knocked up doesn’t mean I’m free childcare! She never did that again!
