Except he should've stopped taking the money especially when he didn't need it anymore. He's hard to like because of that and lots of people don't have parents that can and do give money for college at all. @@KB3TLR the OP took the money to make life easier for him regardless if he went to a different college and graduated a year earlier than expected, but as wrong as he was to take the money after he graduated and obtained a high paying job afterwards, how he was treated by both his parents and younger brother was a lot worse and that reality can't be disputed or ignored ever and I will admit that while his actions were wrong and he should be criticized for it, only he will know why he did what he did in the first place and always will yet judge the actions of both his parents and younger brother as well because they deserve it most wholeheartedly big time for good measure down the line.

Morale of the story: NEVER tell any family member how much you make or what you have. In fact, lead them all to think that you’re struggling or else you’ll continue to have someone showing up with their hands out. And if you don’t give it, the rest of the family will shame you for not helping family. My husband and I have dealt with it always with his parents and 4 sisters and their husbands. They all gamble, waste money and had kids they couldn’t afford, then expected us to share with them what we work hard for. If they knew we had something they were asking to borrow it and they never return anything they borrow.

Can a parent even remove their adult childs name from a college?
@moniquegilder441913 күн бұрын
Do not think that they can but they could if they had Financial control over their child's account. It's kind of similar to financial aid in a way and they could pull financial support from their child and that would kind of push the child back when it came to scheduling classes. At the community College they used to go to you had to basically pay a percentage of the money that you owe before you can schedule yourself for classes. There's also payment plans but not a lot of people would want to go into debt trying to get a degree that they might not even use. It is very legal depending on the situation and if the parents have Control over their child (the student's) account. Like financial aid a parent can make an account to make sure that their child is able to get Government assistance or even grants because you have to have your parents income tax records.

There's always 2 sides. I can believe this guy THINKS his family was ignorant of him, believing they had a favourite child and ignored all of his suggestions, and there's a chance they did, but there's also a chance that maybe he was just a dick to them and his brother due to jealousy, and there's some evidence for this theory in the post. There are some subtle things I find odd with the whole story that actually sound very familiar to me from my behavioural psychology background, and to play Devil's advocate for a moment I might offer a slightly different narrative based on some clues from the transcript. Note this is just an alternative theory for entertainment purposes only, I'm not discrediting their version of events nor condoning abusive behaviour, but simply offering up an explanation for his family's seemingly unprovoked animosity towards him. Narcissists, autistic individuals or those with diminished social skills often convince themselves that they're the ones hard done by and how they're blameless in all conflicts and arguments. Note the OP apparently did absolutely nothing wrong to incur his parents neglect, they just seemingly had a preference since he was a baby. Memories of events vary wildly between those who experienced it based on their emotions of the time. Somehow I suspect his family would tell a very different story, and that they might for example claim he was in fact arrogant, rude, antisocial (often attributed to individuals who suffer from diminished social skills due to some undiagnosed behavioural or learning issue) and therefore just kind of wanted him out of the house, which is the only reason I can believe his father would continuing paying for part of his college education - if they were truly neglectful or uncaring, why pay for anything at all? And why would they want him home so badly for his brother's wedding if they truly didn't care? OP gives a later explanation for this, but at the time they wouldn't have known about his apparent success. The fact he was supposedly able to get such a high paying job so soon after graduation on a scholarship, screams abnormally intelligent. Again issues associated with limited social abilities often come with a very high IQ (e.g. sociopaths); note he never once mentioned any friends or social networks he had made after leaving his family in his posting - he often repeated how intelligent and how successful he is in terms of career, but not in his social standing. Just rings some familiarity to me. I mean, there's also the fact he's writing an entire documentary on Reddit of all places (not to label all Reddit users as having limited social skills, but it's a stereotype) but the post is not looking for advice, but in fact seems to boast. He posts 'updates' less than 24hrs later. instead of getting advice from actual friends like most would, he seems to delight in his recalling his deception of his parents and revelling in their anger (which I would argue is proportionally appropriate) for lying to them about his whereabouts and taking their money under false pretenses. Another clear sign is him repeatedly claiming how sad he is that his relationship with his family is like this, but notes how they repeatedly tried to connect as he kept shutting them down. Obviously OP believes they were perhaps jealous of him (and often rationalised argument in such conditions already mentioned) and they wanted to use his new wealth for their own benefit. Maybe it's true, but I can honestly see how someone with social deficiencies can completely fail to read the room and instead insert their own prejudicial reasoning after having convinced himself they don't really care and therefore they must have an ulterior motive for reconnecting. Is a shame really, especially since not once did he talk about trying to reach out to them instead or explain his animosity towards them. Obviously you would ask why should a person reach out to them if they're the ones hard done by, but he stated no less than 3 times he is clearly unhappy with how 'things turned out' but I heard of no attempts to reconcile from his end - and goes out of his way to actually make it difficult for them to contact him. OP mentions they found out where he lived and showed up unannounced. OP claims he doesn't know how they found out, but this is fishy to me because you simply don't go through the expense of buying plane tickets for 3 people (especially if apparently they are apparently penniless) to travel that far without the guarantee that you A: actually KNOW where they live, and B: are sure they're going to be in to answer the door on the day you arrive, otherwise it would be an entirely wasted trip. Anyway , this is just another take on the whole account based on what was in the post, who knows for sure, but was all entertaining nonetheless. Hope you enjoyed.

Regardless of the fakeness of the scenario, if I'm in this person's position one of the reasons I want to go to a different school is because I'm projecting at least some degree of what "actually" winds up happening (making 10x more) That said, once I commit to essentially lying (by omission) to my father because that's frankly what needs to happen, the plan begins. I use (I am a college kid after all) but keep a record of every dollar he gives me. Then, as my career begins to flourish (read: as my pay increases) I only minimally increase (if that) my lifestyle and over time (it winds up being years and "I" was going for life, remember, with dad being the one to break the silence in this scenario) begin banking that which dad gave me Finally, when he inevitably blows up at me for what I've done (or, more accurately perhaps, the way I've done it), I give him every single dollar back in a lump sum

Well, the scholarship was just 70 percent, not a 100, and since that college is a lot more prestigious, I bet the money his dad sent him were almost completely used to pay that 30 percent. What is it with these text stories that they for some reason NEED some stupid completely unrelated video in the back? Is it that tiktok kiddies can't concentrate otherwise? This is as pathetic as it is concerning.
@inarilo19 сағат бұрын
It can help people with adhd focus, anyway, you can just ignore it instead of whining about it
@thomaslilly583418 сағат бұрын
@inarilo Can it really? Ok, didn't know this. Thanks. But I wasn't whining, I was complaining (yes, there is a difference!). B/c I for my part cannot concentrate with crap in the background. So I'll just completely ignore "videos" like that. And don't worry, I'll also not complain any more. Crap be crap.

Heard this story, but it was step father and step brother. Step father wanted to use the money his late father left for him and the insurance money. Mother wanted hi. To go to the local college too because she did not want to be lonely.

It’s a Reddit story, but the person who owns this channel put a text to speech voice on it instead of reading. It’s real and I’ve seen this on Reddit before.
