I love the "do you know how much I sacrificed and put on hold to raise you" guilt trip. Like, you're the one who had unprotected sex and then decided to be spiteful about it later. What do you want, a cookie? You had a kid. Raise the kid, love the kid, kiss your shallow dreams that were never going to come true goodbye, and shut the hell up about it. You could have used a condom or given her up for adoption. You didnt. That's your choice.

I actually had something similar happen to me but it was the opposite. My older sister used me for free everything, including babysitting, painting her house, dog sitting, someone to talk at (not with)... once the kids were old enough she didn't need me anymore so she went NC. It devastated me and I went through years of suicidal depression. After therapy I realized how much she used me. It made me angry and to this day we don't speak. Some people are just users and abusers and they see those around them as a means to getting what they need. Today I am happy with my found family.

For those who don’t know the proper quote for “Blood is thicker than water” is “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the blood of the womb” basically the blood of religion is more important than the blood of the family

"the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb" and its to do with warriors fighting together and putting their lives in each others hands.
@steampunkfox49323 күн бұрын
@ either way it’s not about family being more important than anything else

@@IvysPoison1987 Exactly, its not about religion or faith in general, but more about relationships forged during life can be much stronger than those you are born into. This can be church community, battle or just those who stick with you during the motions of life.

Heard this story several times before, but I still get p(ssed about how the family treats op. Back around 2000 my own brother and now ex sister-in-law screwed me over because I was watching their kids while I was supposed to sleep. Because I worked nights as I found out, "I was the only one who wasn't doing anything during the day". I had to wait for someone to get home so I could go to work. Because I wasn't about to leave a 3 yr old and a 2 yr old alone. My mom? "Oh, it's okay. they have to work. Just stay there until someone gets home". Because of them, I lost my job. The one I could've retired from by moving to Scotland from Seattle. I haven't talked to any of them since. Oh, and one of the nieces I watched? Well, my ex-sister-in-law told my niece that she didn't have to listen to me. I simply told her that no, she didn't have to listen to me, but there will be consequences. Now, she's old enough that she's asked for help. I told her that there were consequences. And that she was out of my trust fund. Oh, I still retired in a different way. And even though I was the 'loser and the mooch' of the siblings, I was the only one that made something of myself. Am I an arse for holding my grudge? I don't care. Cutting certain people out of my trust and them not getting a penny was the sole reason I retired and made my life what it is. Screw them.

You're forgetting these people literally raised the OP... These are adults who raised this person from childhood to be a certain way and then guilt tripping them because they know they have strong family values. It's nowhere near as simple as you're making it out to be.
