Love this! I've been putting off joining the membership because it wasn't in the budget and I didn't know how much I would use it. The Family Book Club and Moms Book Club are enough for me to skip a Starbucks or two to make room in the budget ;) My kids are going to be so excited about flapjack Friday and Paul Bunyan! Not to mention meeting the author online. Thanks for getting me excited for a book club. When Momma is excited, everyone has fun! ;)

New subbie, great channel! We use the Robinson curriculum because we love reading (6 kids too). This is very interesting to me, thanks for sharing. I am ALL about love of reading and keeping it simple.

I have a short attention span and I just kinda slid into a random part of the video and it already gave me great ideas. Thank you.

My favorite teacher (6th grade) used to read to us out loud every day after lunch. I looked for ward to that time each day and couldn’t wait to find out what would happen each day.

My son and I love Maniac Magee. We read it together when he was in fifth grade. I think it was fifth grade. But he just had to note each page just to ensure he was understanding what he was reading. He's in 9th grade today and we still bring it up sometimes. I miss reading with him. He's "too old" for us to read together now 😔.

Where do you find the monthly family book club on the RAR site? I am a member but haven't used this yet but am inspired to do so now. I would love to do Owl Moon tomorrow and do the night walk tomorrow night with the full moon.

Hello, I have a question and I'm not sure if you can help me or not. I have a child who is still learning how to read and he will be going into 4th grade next year. He has improved greatly but my problem is finding a good grammar / English curriculum . I was using Writing With Ease and 1st Language Lessons Of A Well Trained Mind, but they are just not my style. Should I forgo the grammar until he is able to read more fluently or can you recommend something for me?

My 12 year old son loves to read! We've never used any formal literature or reading curriculum. He just reads lots of chapter books from the library, and that's about it. I would love to start this curriculum as it doesn't seem overwhelming, nor will it kill his love of reading. I have two questions, though. At what point, if ever, do you teach things like literary analysis, theme, plot, climax, resolution, etc? Also, what curriculum do you recommend for grammar and composition for upper elementary, middle school and high school?

Lisa Cowdrey while I am nobody here, I would personally consider those vocabulary words and you can mention those words to them at any grade. When I read to my kids I summarize afterward, “and the climax, which is the most scary but exciting part of the story is when...”
