John, I saw a Praying Mantis hanging around my front deck last summer. It was the largest one that I had ever seen ! It was close to ten inches long and had a body at least as big as my little finger. The odd thing was it's coloring. Instead of being a bright green it was more of a greenish tan. And it was huge !

We do have tons of lizards, American anoles and geckos (I love the little geckos, they come out and night and keep my front porch bug free). When I lived in Savannah, GA we did have temps drop to freezing and below so some bugs did go away but there were so many...we needed geckos up there but I don't think they can survive that weather.

I have aphids, some flies, and some other little insect I haven't figure what it is, I try diatomaceous earth and it worked but I still have the aphids. Also if I have praying mantis they will be fine if I use Neem and rosemary oil from time to time?

I have found that the Carolina praying mantis is the best. They’re smaller as you know, and I hang the pods on my plants! Be small babies will eat spider mites and aphids. I grow CBD hemp for medicine. And I don’t use any chemicals. Are use a jewelers loupe to find the A little pests, How i love praying mantis Lady bugs work good but they don’t hang around long enough so I went to pray mantis which teams longer for them to mature to leave.

Hey John- I have a question. I am a newly Las Vegas gardener and I have some metal chicken wire, left behind by the previous homeowners of my new place, that I was thinking of using as a upcycled trellis for green beans and cucumbers. If only Monsanto utilized these practices! Thank you for this excellent video. Can you also discuss pest control plants/herbs? What to plant next to what . . .
@funnyanimalshorts6434 жыл бұрын
monsanto doesn't grow food. They produce roundup ready seeds that are immune to the weed killer roundup. What you are hoping is that farmers use these methods. The problem with that is yield. Pesticides, which are killing our bees all over the world, are far more effective than natural methods. This increases yeild, bringing down the prices of our food. We have to subsidize farmers' costs so that the small farmers who use things like mantises and ladybugs instead of pesticides won't go bankrupt. But the big industrial farms also have access to these subsidies. Which, in turn, encourages the practice of pesticides. Do you want it to end? Too bad because this is being done all over the world. World starvation is nearly gone. Now the commercials for african kids on tv have to do with access to clean water and medicine whereas they used to be about starving kids needing food.
@ТамараБелка-й8с4 жыл бұрын
If it would, we probably will be in a big trouble. We do not want to mess with ecology in such a great scale. Think about birds, insects are also their food. Or another beneficial insects, eaten by troops of praying mantis.
