This is a great semi-in-depth video! Keep in mind that the scatter addon also works with the grassblade, gardener, ect. addons too, which add even more biomes to choose from. @@Brandon-3D I've actually run in to a problem and I've been scouring the menus to try and find a solution but come up short. Whenever I apply foliage with anything other than manual placement to my terrain, no matter the size of the terrain the foliage is absolutely massive in scale. I can remedy it by scaling the foliage manually after generation but then i'm left with hardly any foliage and have to scale the Instances per square meter to something ridiculous like 2-4 thousand to get even coverage. Any ideas?

A couple of thoughts. One is integration with game engines (unity, unreal, godot, bevy) - what would be the technique to make this work (with instancing) in a game engine. So, like a map to export, and then code examples for various game engines to use the map to layout your stuff using same instancing. Not that it would be that difficult to do via code, but would be nice if product had it. The other is "scatter in the air" (scatter inside a volume) - that way things like silverware could be scattered up in the air, then use physic to let them drop and create a pile beneath (or leaves, trash, clothes or whatever) - easy enough with geonodes, but push of a button would be nicer.

Brandon did the asset library take forever to init after you did this 1:36 for first time. It took maybe 5-10 minutes for Blender to properly init all objects with thumbnails. I'm on Blender 3.3.2

blender 3.2 - 1:20 adding the Scatter Library, save Pref, did not show any content, what are some things to check?

I think I really screwed up by missing this step in the tutorial. Go to preferences, go to "Enter Manager" under Scatter. At the top is a button "Install a Scatter Package." With the download, you should have gotten a file called "default library.scatpack" Navigate to wherever that is and select it and press install. Then do the step I showed to copy and paste the file path to add a new library in your asset browser preferences under "file path." Sorry if that's not clear, let me know.

I’ve found it incredibly smooth. And I feel dumb for not fully understanding this but it’s apparently using geometry nodes in the latest version….so it’s way better than particles. I’ve been very happy with it.

Tyvm, I've been putting off seeing if Scatter 5.x is useful for my purpose... my first review of some tuts showed me it's deeper than I expected and I'm concerned about render times because it's almost all geo irrespective of it's camera clipping (and they call their packs: .scatpacks... and that's _not_ pawn! and ew...) If possible, could you 'review and tut' True Terrain, VDB, Space, idr, I'm considering them too, but ffs they're also deep and heavy on the HDDs/SSDs so I'd need convincing and other ppl's opinions too with specialist Blender knowledge... Given you do use over noodly node connectors, I'd also be interested in a final understanding of the right way to mix normals. There are at least 4 methods and there's no one place to go to compare and contrast them

I’m a little late but I think you need to apply all transformations to your emitter object (the object that other objects are being scattered on) and also set the origin to center geometry.

Hi! My first guess is you need to apply the scale (Ctrl + A) of the object you’re using as an emitter. You will also need to be using real-world scale. So if you have a plane that is supposed to be the size of a football field, make sure it’s a big plane! I hope that fixes it. Good luck!

It NOT integrates with the Blender Asset Browser I installed scatter 5.3 and SCATPACK Bagapie on blender 3.3.1. I can already apply biomes to planes through the emitter, but I have a problem with the damned asset browser - it's empty (file paths is correct). Although I did the same in the video. Has anyone come across? I just have a huge collection of meshes in a blend file, but the asset browser doesn't work, and it makes the whole addon almost meaningless.

Nice Add-On, but it looks pretty much like G-Scatter by Graswald. They both seem to do the same thing and have the same features. Now the question is: who copied who? Graswald started in 2017 and G-Scatter has been around for more than 4 years. What is the history of Geo-Scatter / Scatter5? Their website doesn't say anything about their history.
