Clara Lieu was an Adjunct Professor at the Rhode Island School of Design from 2007-2020. Her artwork has been exhibited at the International Print Center NY, the Currier Museum, Childs Gallery, the Davis Museum, and more. Same! I use a filbert probably 90% of the time. It's my "go-to" workhorse.

Seconding love for the filbert! I like them for smooth applications of acrylics areas because the shape helps feather the edges of the stroke laid down.

I love Filberts alot too, I use them all the time for blending/shape building; I need to buy some of those larger ones. Flats and rounds are alright for certain purposes, but I kinda feel the same as you lol.

I feel like rounds might be the most versatile, because you can get good blending like with a filbert, but you can also get detail and a good edge like with a flat. -Lauryn, Art Prof Teaching Artist

@@artprof Thank you Lauryn, wow I've never thought of round brushes that way! I never really know what to really do with my larger rounds. I've used the smaller ones for details, but not the larger ones as much. Time to incorporate the bigger rounds into blending and details😁🙏🏽!
