Very nice looking pack. Been hearing and seeing a lot of great things about it. I have been using the ULA Packrat for I think going on two years now and it’s been a great day pack as well.

Currently awaiting my Chicken Tramper daypack, which seems like will take over as my light overnight/extra layers daypack. I think 20oz altogether? But can shed the more padded hipbelt if desired

I joined the cool kids & bought an Osprey. Talon 22. I wanted a hip belt- just a personal preference. My only gripe so far is: the location of the water bottle pockets. Unless you're a double- jointed circus freak, it's near impossible with the pack on.

I just ordered the Six Moon Designs Daybreaker. It's a little bigger/heavier than the Mile, but I think it'll work better for overnights. Should work better for my daughter as her pack too, since I usually schlep the food and shelter when she goes.

I love my Gossamer Gear Kumo 36 ... a little big for a daypack (but still super lightweight) ... but big enough for an overnight or two. Save me from having to switch out packs unless I'm going on a big epic journey.

I just got the MILE and have taken it for 3 different overnight trips. Its an absolute dream. I'm considering getting one of their larger packs too for a longer trip as well because the MILE is just so comfortable and well built.

Have any opinions on hip / waist packs for day hikes? Obviously don’t get as much space but wondering if something in the 5L to 10L could work.

The Waymark Mile makes a great ultralight pack for a couple of nights/days on a trail. The Waymark Mile along with a Chicken Tramper 25 liter have replaced my Zpacks Nero as my Ultralight packs. As far as day packs I like the Mountainsmith's Lumbar packs. Either the Mountainsmith Drift or the Larger Day pack. The reason I like them is simply , no shoulder straps and nothing against my back. I'm in a hot , humid placed called Florida so any ventilation is nice.

I throw a Thermarest Z Seat in the internal sleeve for some back support. It’s a great backpack. The hip belt has pockets on each side, and the shoulder straps have pockets on each side also.

I haven’t found that sweet daypack just yet. I own Gossamer Gear Kumo 36 and Osprey Talon 22. I like the volume and features of Kumo, and I like the zip top of Talon. I still can’t find lightweight day pack with volume about 30-35L nice mash pocket in the back, nice stretchy side pockets for water buttles, with shoulder strap pockets, no hip belt and zip top. The closest one I seem to be liking so far is from Mountain Smith Zerk 40 but again it’s a roll top not the zip top. I find the zip top pack very convenient for extended 10-13-mile days and especially when hiking with my children because I have to get in and out of my pack a lot of times during the day. The Mile seems to be promising with that zipper on the top but again the volume seems a bit small and the roll top, IDK. If they go on sale during black Friday, I will probably get one to try it out. Nice review! Thanks for sharing.

Have you checked out Lite AF? They have several sizes, optional hip belt & you can add shoulder pockets. Roll tops but, maybe they can build one with the zipper you want.

@@chrisholmes5765 Thank you for the suggestion. LiteAF packs and features are impressive but seems like none of them have custom option to have zippered top. I am not there yet to contact them and make such custom pack. Just looking around. LOL. After all I already have 22L, 36L and 60L packs, do I need another one! My wife already thinks I am a bit of obsession with this hiking stuff. LOL.

Hey buddy how's it going. Good video man. I like that bag I need to get me one. My day bag my wife got it down in New Orleans with her. As a matter of fact the kids want to go hiking last weekend so me and my uncle in law took the kidson a day hiking. We use like backpacks and stuff like that to Carrie Beverages and food in. "LOL" but it did work. It was good until the end where I lost my balance and broke both of my flip flops at the same time same place. On my left foot the left side strap came out of the flop & on my right feet the whole complete strap came off of the flop. I had Everybody laughing. I had to end up finishing the rest of the day Barefooted 👣. I had to take my kids to the fast-food restaurant to eat , go to Walmart for school supplies , the grocery store to get groceries for the week and all three store didn't say anything to me about being Barefooted 👣 style in their store. Especially Walmart with all the employees walking around the store. I only encounter a rude customer. He walks down the row we was in walking by very slow as he was staring down at my feet. When he got to the next row over he yelled out real loud in the store those are some super wide feet & some very fat wide toes you got fat man. I said back thank you. My son said dad you know he was making fun of your wide feet & wide toes. I said I know son I don't want to start something while being in the store barefooted 👣 when I shouldn't be. That really bothered me and made me mad. I can't help it that I am a chubby fat dude with some very extremely chubby fat wide toes that are straight across. My 3th son John have extremely wide feet too and he didn't say anything about his feet. I'm sorry John it just bugs me man cuz I was born like this. But I really enjoyed the hiking trip though with the kids.

Hey John. I picked up a Mile and have used it on a number of day hikes and an overnight in the Goat Rocks Wilderness. I added my LiteAF fanny pack to it for some extra space. But one thing you mentioned about the side storage ties into a change I made to mine. I prefer the roll tops that fasten to the sides and pull down instead of fastening together like a dry bag. I took the side cords and removed them from the loop, ran it through the loop and up and attached a matching buckle end so I can use that cord to pull the roll top down. Also puts the cord into a bit of a V shape along the side. Held in my fishing pole and tent really well. (I carry my tent in one of the side "water bottle" pockets)

Nice review! I'm still having an issue with seeing how Waymark can fit into my line up as I don't care for shoulder straps on my day pack. I think one of the big sellers is the customization you can do with it that other companies may not offer.
