The new Waymark Mile is an outstanding American-made backpack. It's a 28 liter daypack made according to ultralight standards. Even with several useful features not often found on UL packs, this rugged pack still comes in at only 16 oz! Here I give a full tour and review of the pack plus two useful accessories.
2021 FEATURE CHANGE LIST: Reduced volume by 2 liters. Removed side straps for roll top. Swapped for smaller roll top straps. Removed bottom cordage. Added front storage pocket. Added foam back panel.

Can you help me figure out how tall it is when totally rolled? Thank you!

It's frameless but of you filled it and rolled it down about 18".

That's pretty cool! Thanks! I would love to be able to take it as a personal item on flights in Europe, being frameless and kinda squishy on top, it should be possible to put it in a 16.5 sizer if needed when not fully packed?

Great review. I smiled about the introduction. It feels very close to home. I just came back from a fast hike with the trailblazer 44L. The harness is so great for moving fast. But I I love the simplicity of this Waymark pack. I recently saw a WM pack on a trail here in the UK.

Nice looking pack Doug I agree with your comment regarding daisy chains on shoulder straps. My New OV Shadowlight has a lot of great features but is missing the daisy chains, I had another pack like that and was able to work around it. Take Care

How would you connect their fanny pack into the MILE? There aren't connection points for the fanny pack to do this. 10:25. Maybe in an earlier version of the fanny pack you could do so. I have their current fanny pack, and I don't see a way to attach it.
@BackcountryPilgrim
@BackcountryPilgrim Жыл бұрын
The original Mile's hip belt clips paired with Hilltop's fanny pack clips. Maybe not anymore.

Can you fit a canteen with cup in the side packs?
@BackcountryPilgrim

It might depending on size. These will hold standard Nalgenes or two 1L Smart water bottles but they're not super tall.

I just ran into your video, and I'm a fan of Waymark packs! I have the Waymark Lite50 and am loving it for multi-day backpacking. Now, I want this daypack! Unfortunately, I already own something fairly similar, the Gossamer Gear Vagabond Trail. The Waymark is better in some ways though! (Unrelated question: where did you park your car at that trailhead; is the end of Buchanan Street possible? I want to do that trail now!). Thanks for a great video; I'm a new subscriber.

Yeah I like the Lite as well! I don't recall the trailhead, I was with some other guys that knew their way around and I just tagged along haha.

Waymark’s website says its best for 12-14 inch torso which is awfully short. Granted it can be worn without the waist belt but do you think for someone like me with a 21 inch torso the pack would ride awkwardly high on my back?
@BackcountryPilgrim
@BackcountryPilgrim 2 жыл бұрын
I'm really not sure why they even mention that. It's a daypack size and the "hip belt" is just for stability, not weight bearing. I'm a 19" and none of the people I know who love this pack are 14"!

My go to is the day pack included with my Gregory baltoro. Think that's the spelling. It serves as the sleeve for a water bladder I believe.

Love all your videos, Doug, but I have to say, I'm not that impressed by this pack. OK, fine, it weights only 16oz. it's a sack with shoulder straps. but it's $140 sack with shoulder straps. I look at it and say, for $10 less I could have an Osprey Talon 22, that has a lot of features. So, the Talon weights 32oz. instead of 16oz. Sorry, as a fellow packaholic, I just don't see it.
@BackcountryPilgrim
@BackcountryPilgrim 3 жыл бұрын
To each his own! The Talon actually has about the same compliment of pockets except the hip belt, and the adjustable harness is useful I suppose (seems like overkill for such a small pack to me, plus doubling the weight). Oddly the Mile has better cushioning in the straps even though it's lighter. But no hipblet....so yeah, they're very different and fulfill different niches. :)
