Forging perfection at it's finest. Just love watching you forge. I learn on every video you do. Your a bit of a perfectionist. It really shows in your work. Thanks for sharing it with us Jen.

Thanks, Jim. My pleasure having a few patreon supporters has helped with motivation. :) As for perfectionists, I try to do the best I can in everything I do. When it comes to forging I have an expectation based on experience. A little bit different than most. Beginners start out with limited experience with an expectation or desire for what an item could be. For myself, i know what it should be but not being as good a forger as I used to be, puts the expectation and experience in discord. That and the fact that I don't practice at the items I make. Setup the cameras and start filming. You guys are seeing 1 off items, many not being made since before I retired back in 2004. All the videos are single items other than the poker challenge and Daniel Moss candle holder. Pokers I had 4 to give away and for the Daniel Moss challenge the measurements were off in the drawing, so had to figure it out.

Of course, all of the above… Making a mark on round stock with a center punch, for me, is adventurous. The thing has a tendency to run away. I do not have a step on my anvil, so I use a swage block or a piece of angle iron welded to a small plate. Too old to run around after wandering pieces of steel. Lovely little video. A nice practice of forge welding for beginners: easy, no dropped tongs.

Very nice indeed. The first thing Peter Ross forged at the conference in OK was a coal rake. He said he found the best thing to move coal around with was his hands but that got to hot so he always preferred one with a large blade. So prior to the start of his demo he forged a wide blade rake to use. When he said "hand" I got an idea and when I got home I traced my hand on a piece of sheet metal and then forge welded that onto the end of a handle for a coal rake. It was kind of a play on his words but it's turned out to be a very "handy" coal rake that not only rakes coal around but scoops up and moves around coal very well.

I like the fact you show easier projects like this one as well as other more difficult and I need a better rake such as this. Since it's your favorite I'm sure it'll be a great one for me. Thanks for the video. I'm guessing you did use flux on the welds.
@jlpservicesinc14522 жыл бұрын
Yes, used flux on the initial welds.. The flux container was on the forge and sorry about not showing that. Works great.. You won't be disappointed.

You do such nice work, I was wondering if you would be interested in making a knot in the climber’s style for the “HowNot2” KZbin channel? I think it would be a nice gift and perhaps pull in some new revenue from totally new places. Feel free to use or mention this comment or my name if you want, no problem. Thanks for your consideration

Double figure 8? Or Single? A sculpture like this this certainty can be done but a tough one to do cleanly. Getting the same lay of the rope is tough.
