Jazz, Rags and Blues is amazing. One of the best sounding but easy to play books I have ever picked up.

hi Allysia, thanks for these references. Where can we find a copy of Watermelon and Friends by Linda Niamath? I have been searching online but all sites say it's out of print and no longer available

Just found your channel! Martha Mier is a favorite among my students. Never heard a piece o hers I haven't liked. Ever hear o Melody Bober? She's another favorite of my students! :)

Thanks for the recommendations on these books. I bought the Christopher Norton book a while back and have just finished learned "Picnic Hop" and I'm now working on "Toronto Tango". They are fun songs to learn! Definitely recommended.

Toronto Tango is a great one! Surprisingly difficult to coordinate both hands.

Hi Allysia. Could you tell me how many pieces one should practice at each grade before moving to the next one? I practice from the Essential Keyboard repertoire for the baroque and classical pieces. But it contains about 7-8 pieces from the RCM syllabus. I reckon that I would have to practice a lot so that I don't get stuck in higher grades.

Hi there! Thank you so much! I have ordered two of those! I have been trying to get the eBook but I am not receiving verification email. May I know how else could I get the book. Or what could be the reason. That will be really helpful! Thank you for helping us out 😊

Would you rather recommend the RCM repertoire book or the RCM etudes book ? My goal is mainly to improve and move on to higher grades.

Could you give a fuller reference to the Essential Keyboard Repertoire book you talked about? (I.e. Publisher, editor, ISBN, or whatever) Thanks. I love your videos.

Hello! I recently discovered your videos and am greatly enjoying them. I am a mostly self-taught, "on-and-off for many years" pianist, but I am now re dedicating myself to my practice. I am able to play more intermediate pieces like Debussy's "Reverie," but I feel there are probably many gaps in my knowledge and so I have considered starting back at Grade 1 or 2 pieces and technique. I'm not sure where to begin at this point. I am looking into getting a piano teacher, but this may not be do-able. What would you suggest for someone in my situation? Thanks so much!

I think you have exactly the right idea. When I'm practicing, I like to have a balance of skill levels - for example, right now I'm working on a Grade 7ish level Baroque invention, a Grade 3ish level sonatina, and a Grade 10ish level waltz. Because like you said, it's good to fill gaps in your knowledge by studying "easier" pieces/technique, while simultaneously challenging yourself with exciting pieces like Reverie.

Do you happen to have any other / updated suggestions for grade 2? I’m sure you still use the same books but if you have any new additions I’d love to have more suggestions! It seems several of the ones listed here (the watermelon, fantasy one, and the connections) are all out of print or hard to find ):
