I love this because when I first got into nail polish -- as a guy -- I was like oh obviously black is the first polish I'll get. Then I got bored because black nail polish on a guy just seems so ... obvious? Lol. So I had a grey binge after for a while because it's just more interesting than black to me. I wore Oceans Away from Sally Hansen like CRAZY with matte topcoat for the longest time. Gotta Bounce from Orly, Cloud Nine from Believe Beauty and Smokin' Hot from Essie were others I liked. This was also long before I discovered indie brands lol

Haha yess every guy has to go thru the entry level black polish 🤣 those are such cool greys though!! Esp with a matte topcoat, very edgy and cool ⛓️ Essie’s smokin hot is such a classic!! I can’t believe I never owned that one, I always love swatches of it 🤤

@@vickyG46 Oh yeah at this point I own like 30 ILNP polishes -- they're my favorite brand. I bought the Holo version of Eclipse in my first ILNP order. I also have some KB Shimmer, Starrily and Cirque. I bought a few Mooncat polishes on sale and I standby thinking they're overpriced for what they are so I probably won't buy more. But I am definitely experienced in more indies now.

I love grey! It's my second most collected color, first being fun nudes. ILNP Flicker is my favorite grey, I get so many comments every time I wear it. Apparently I really need to get Windswept.

Peace of Mined is in my top 10 polishes of all time which is surprising since it's a neutral creme and I prefer specialty finishes. It's just so incredibly flattering on any skin tone! I love your lineup, especially the light ones!!

Love your selections! Orchid by Cadillacquer was my first gray and I’ve been hooked on it since. I’ve yet to build my inventory. I just bought one from NOL called Fang of a Gargoyle and love it too. I hope they still have Windswept. Thanks for sharing!

I, too, was surprised by the number of greys in my collection (which is, by many of your viewers' standards, tiny!) I consider Essie's Maximillian Strasse Her to be grey (though Essie classes it as green, IIRC) plus I have Prism Polish's Robustus, and from my Holo Taco polishes, I consider the following to be grey: Featured Guest (grey/white linear holo), Alien Infatuation (with a green shimmer), Spirit Fingers (with a pink shimmer), Highest Bidder (grey crushed holo), Overshadowed (though that is a blue-grey duochrome), Greyt (a metallic grey), Smokeshow (grey glitter), and grey cremes Foreshadow, Cold Slate (more blue than grey), and finally Duct Tape Grey. 12 out of 370! 😂

Yayyy a favorite non color color of mine and what a gorgeous line-up. I love all of them. In my own collection the lighter greys are crellies. BKL Guillermo Buillermo is my favorite light greay. Cirque Dove is my favorite blurring base.Not only neutralizes it the staining but the jelly formula also covers the ridges. ILNP Starlight and Truffle are darker favorites and of course A England St Agnes Mine.

Oh yes a light grey crelly is soo nice, my favorite was KBShimmer’s The Cat’s Meow but unfortunately mine faded 😭 the BKL is soo lovely, I love that ghostly glow it has! And yes I can totally see Dove jelly being a nice base to neutralize staining too! And wow I always considered Starlight to be more blue, did you mean Thundercloud? Either way it kind of reminded me of Reign which is another beauty! The A England looks so classy 😍😍

Dove Jelly (totally surprised how much I liked it) and Triceratops are both in my fave grays. MSM's Hopscotch, Cadillacquer's White Knight, OPI's How to Jamaica Million, French Quarter for Your Thoughts, You Don't Know Jacques, ILNP's Flicker. Beautiful video Stef, I adored your selection and analysis! I agree with you that undertones matter so much more in what counts as a "grey" -- there are several times I tried to get a neutral grey polish and ended up with something with (what I considered to be) way too strong blue undertones, especially on my yellow olive undertones! But I follow your tastes pretty closely and prefer taupe-y undertones to my grey polishes, if any. The only *true* neutral light grey polish I have is Zoya Dove, and it's a favorite for that reason, but Orly Dreamers Awake is sooo pretty and also has a great name -- I might look into that as a back up :) Out of your list I only own the OAPs and Dove Jelly, and I haven't yet tried Icicle. Storm is *okay* but on me it does lean rather purple, but I also similarly ADORE Dove Jelly. I'm really intrigued by the darker greys on your list, especially the special finishes -- Triceratops and Let's Mosey look so cool!! My fave greys also include Zoya Abigail (the perfect elephant grey that's brown-leaning without being taupe), OAP Calcite (my favorite ""white""), OAP Pegasus (retired now but my wedding shade!), Live Love Polish My Dear Cassandra (strong blue shimmer, though not as strong as the LynB one), Pahlish Nymeria (love that gold flakie finish), and BKL Lemon (combining my love for neutral greys AND bright sunshine yellows!). I love greys.😍😍😍 It's my favorite after pink. I think it looks so classy, especially when it's a matte creme (sometime with gold glitter). I have none of these polishes, my difference in undertone to these is really apparent, but also reveals a gap in my polish collection. oh ho ho! My favorites in mine include: Zoya- Tommy- creme with a hint of blue ILNP- Manhattan- very holo. very satisfying Essie- On Mute- on the darker end. I've admired it multiple times in story displays only to look at the shade name and realize I already own it I want to give an Honorable mention to ILNP's Overcast collection, as they all have that grey stormcloud thing. Light or Dark, blue leaning or more taupe, I think that set kind of spans a what grey can mean, especially depending on a persons undertone 😁 it's all about ✨vibes✨ Edit: I caved and used On Mute 2 hrs later lmao

I have a collection of under 200, but I have a couple greys/silvers. Not that many but compared to yellow (I only have 2 yellows in my collection lol) definitely more- though theyre more on the lighter grey side. I just got Cracked's French 75 shade and I LOVE it. I was eyeing ILNP's Flicker for a while but love how the shimmer in Cracked's French 75 is smaller.

Your lineup is so satisfying! I think it's really interesting that you mostly feature blue-, red-, and purple-toned greys, though-- I thought you'd have more green-toned shades in there, considering your attraction to celadon. I really love grays! From Mooncat I have Heart of Stone, Enchanted Mist, Fallen Angels, Smokescreen, and Triceratops. I also have Petals for a Narcissist (described as "white-gray with violet-pink shimmer") and Outlaw Country (described as "gunmetal with silver shimmer"). I never did get Moth To A Flame, but just put it on my wishlist! I'd get She Wolf, if it were still available! I'd also love to get Cirque's Dove Jelly and Cracked's Dark Heart. Idunno for sure, but I think the lighter base would make the shimmer appear less red and more toward the copper/gold part of the spectrum that Stefanie mentioned. I skimmed a few polish sites and that seems to be what I see from them. I think Pahlish- Super Graphic Ultra Modern Girl probably has the same type of shimmer. ILNP-tombstone has very small flakies while Flicker is a more shimmer. My favorite that is probably entirely wrong for what you're looking for was Rogue Laquer's Rose Gold Sprinkles, but it looks really pretty so I thought I would mention it. :D
