I'll answer anyway for others who might notice and wonder. My Favorite Husband was based on a series of books by Isabel Scott Rorick that featured the Cugats. When the series premiered, that was their on-air name. After a time, whether because Cugat was so strongly identified with the bandleader Xavier Cugat, or because the network, sponsor or producers wanted a less ethnic-sounding name, the couple's last name was changed to Cooper.

I'm so glad I read this. I hadn't researched but I was assuming that the name started off as Cooper and I thought maybe Desi started playing the husband later on, so they changed the last name to Cugat to make it more ethnic haha I had remembered her plugging the show when she was on Suspense Radio and she said Cugat then, so I thought these were earlier episodes. Thanks for the info.
